Job summary

Novimeq Automation is seeking an experienced Simulation Engineer in Hyderabad to develop and validate 3D models and virtual environments for industrial automation projects. You will collaborate with PLC, controls, electrical design and project teams to simulate machine sequences and verify automation logic before on-site commissioning.

The role requires hands-on experience with simulation platforms (Rockwell Emulate3D, Siemens tools) and strong PLC understanding.

Qualifications

About Role

We are looking for an experienced Simulation Engineer with 5+ years of relevant experience in Industrial Automation, Manufacturing Simulation, Virtual Commissioning, or Digital Manufacturing.

The role will be responsible for developing and validating 3D simulation models and virtual automation environments for industrial automation projects. The engineer will work closely with PLC, Controls, Electrical Design, and Project Engineering teams to simulate machine and production processes and validate automation logic before physical commissioning.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience with simulation platforms such as Rockwell Emulate3D, Siemens simulation applications, or equivalent industrial simulation tools, along with a good understanding of PLC programming and industrial automation systems.

The role requires the ability to understand the complete automation sequence, develop realistic simulation models, integrate PLC logic with the simulation environment, and identify functional issues before deployment at the customer site.

Role & responsibilities

Simulation Development & Virtual Commissioning

• Develop and configure 3D simulation models for industrial automation systems, machines, production lines, material handling systems, and manufacturing processes.
• Develop virtual environments representing real-world machines, equipment, conveyors, sensors, actuators, robots, and production processes.
• Work with simulation platforms such as Rockwell Emulate3D, Siemens simulation applications, and other relevant industrial simulation tools.
• Configure and establish communication between simulation software and PLC systems.
• Perform virtual commissioning to validate machine sequences and automation functionality before physical commissioning.
• Simulate different machine operating conditions, production scenarios, faults, and process sequences.
• Validate the interaction between PLC programs and the simulated machine/process.

PLC & Controls Integration

• Understand and interpret PLC programs, control logic, machine sequences, I/O mapping, interlocks, permissives, alarms, and safety conditions.
• Work closely with PLC/Controls Engineers to integrate PLC logic with simulation models.
• Test PLC logic against the virtual machine and identify logic or sequence-related issues.
• Perform virtual I/O validation and signal mapping between PLC and simulation environment.
• Troubleshoot communication and integration issues between PLC, simulation software, HMI, and other automation systems.
• Review control narratives, sequence descriptions, functional specifications, I/O lists, and electrical drawings to develop accurate simulation models.
• Support PLC Engineers in debugging and optimizing automation programs through virtual testing.
• Conduct simulation-based testing before FAT and site commissioning.
• Support FAT preparation and execution using validated simulation models.
• Maintain simulation models, project files, libraries, and technical documentation.
• Prepare simulation test cases, test reports, issue logs, and validation records.
• Ensure simulation deliverables are completed within project timelines.
• Support site commissioning and troubleshooting activities when required.
