Job summary

Tata Technologies is seeking a Should Cost Engineer with strong mechanical engineering fundamentals and over six years of experience in EV 2-wheeler products. You will build detailed should-cost models for components such as suspension, frame, and fenders to enable cost visibility early in the product lifecycle.

The role requires hands-on CAD for measurement, expert Excel-based cost modeling, and experience with supplier discussions and cost validation to support NPI programs and cost-down

Responsibilities

  • Develop bottom-up should-cost models for mechanical components including suspension, frame/chassis, fenders, brackets, etc.
  • Analyse manufacturing processes: welding, machining, stamping, injection molding, casting, forging and machine.
  • Conduct DFM/DFA and VA/VE activities.
  • Support supplier negotiations using cost models.
  • Perform tear-downs and benchmarking studies.
  • Maintain cost databases, templates and rate cards.
  • Support NPI with early cost visibility.

Job description

Should Cost Engineer with strong mechanical engineering fundamentals and 6+ years of experience in EV 2-wheeler products. The candidate must be able to build detailed should-cost models for components such as suspension, frame, fenders, and similar mechanical items.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop bottom-up should-cost models for mechanical components including suspension, frame/chassis, fenders, brackets, etc.
  • Analyse manufacturing processes: welding, machining, stamping, injection molding, casting, forging and machine.
  • Conduct DFM/DFA and VA/VE activities.
  • Support supplier negotiations using cost models.
  • Perform tear-downs and benchmarking studies.
  • Maintain cost databases, templates and rate cards.
  • Support NPI with early cost visibility.
Required Qualifications
  • B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 6 years' experience in should costing for EV 2-wheelers or similar.
  • Strong knowledge of metal and plastic manufacturing processes.
  • Hands-on with CAD for measurement.
  • Expertise in Excel and cost modeling.
  • Experience with supplier discussions and cost validation.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with Indian 2-wheeler supply chain.
