Job Title: Costing Engineer – Should Costing & VA/VE (Contract)
We are looking for experienced Costing Engineers to be deployed at a client location in Jaipur for a short-term, high-impact engagement. The role focuses on should cost estimation and Value Analysis / Value Engineering (VA/VE) projects across automotive components. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in manufacturing cost breakdowns, process-based costing, and cost reduction initiatives, and will be comfortable working directly with client engineering, sourcing, and manufacturing teams.
Responsibilities
- Perform should cost estimation for automotive components
- Develop detailed cost breakdowns for processes such as:
- Casting, Forging, Machining
- Injection Moulding
- Sheet Metal / Fabrication / Stamping
- PCBs and electro-mechanical assemblies
- Execute VA/VE workshops and analyses to identify cost reduction opportunities
- Analyse material, process, labour, overhead, tooling, and yield losses as cost drivers
- Conduct what-if scenarios and sensitivity analysis to support sourcing and negotiation
- Benchmark supplier quotes against should-cost models and highlight gaps
- Work closely with client design, sourcing, manufacturing, and quality teams
- Document assumptions, methodologies, and findings in structured cost reports
- Present cost insights and VA/VE recommendations to client stakeholders
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s/master’s degree in mechanical / electrical / Electronic Engineering
- 1 - 3 years of experience in:
- Should costing / cost engineering
- VA/VE or teardown-based costing projects
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and cost drivers
- Hands-on proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced costing sheets, scenarios)
- Ability to work independently at client location with minimal supervision
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Comfortable working in time-bound, delivery-focused projects
- Prior experience in automotive or industrial manufacturing environments
- Exposure to supplier negotiations, sourcing, or teardown projects is a plus
- Strong ownership mindset and attention to details.
