Responsibilities
Responsible for developing accurate and defensible cost models by analysing supplier manufacturing processes and cost drivers.
Perform detailed cost gaps between supplier quotations and should-cost estimates to identify savings opportunities.
Supporting strategic sourcing, negotiations, and cost-reduction initiatives across global, cross-functional teams.
Prepare and present comprehensive analytical reports covering parts, assemblies, and finished products to support decision-making.
Maintain effective communication and coordination with internal stakeholders and external suppliers/vendors.
Qualifications
B.E/M. E Mechanical or similar domain
Minimum 3 years of experience in a Manufacturing / Process Engineering environment such as Plastics, Sheet Metal, Machining, Casting, Forging, Mirror/Optics, Heat Treatment, or Surface Treatment (must have).
Essential Skill set/s
Proficiency in cost modeling tools such as Apriori, Costimator, or similar should-costing software.
Experience in developing and applying Activity-Based Costing (ABC) methodologies to build detailed manufacturing cost models.
Ability to establish and validate production cost estimates including tooling costs and process alternatives.
Competence in breaking down manufacturing costs into key elements: Material, Labor, Overhead, Tooling & Yield / Scrap
Ability to gather proposals, specifications, and technical documentation and convert them into structured cost estimates for new and existing products.
Experience in analyzing supplier quotations and ensuring alignment with internal should-cost benchmarks.
Strong ability to identify, quantify, and explain cost gaps between supplier pricing and internal estimates.
Ability to investigate and drive cost reduction opportunities through detailed cost analysis and benchmarking.
Strong analytical and numerical skills with the ability to research, compile, manage, and interpret large datasets.
Desirable Skill set/s
Experience in value analysis, value engineering (VA/VE), and process optimization initiatives.
Exposure to global sourcing environments and supplier cost benchmarking practices.
Ability to prepare costing templates for components, assemblies, and finished products (preferably in Metals and Plastics).
Experience contributing to cost monitoring, reporting systems, and trend analysis.
Experience working closely with cross-functional teams including Purchasing, Engineering, Finance, and Manufacturing to support sourcing strategies.
