Job summary

Fair Exports is seeking a meticulous BL & Shipping Documentation Specialist to oversee international shipping documentation, focusing on Bill of Lading management. You will liaise with ocean carriers, CHAs, and internal teams to ensure accurate documentation and efficient clearance for export/import shipments.

Responsibilities include drafting BLs (MBL/HBL), coordinating amendments, and ensuring compliance with INCOTERMS and trade regulations across freight modes.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and verify ocean/air Bills of Lading (MBL & HBL), including Original, Seaway Bill, and Telex Release instructions.
• Audit Shipping Instructions against Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, and Letters of Credit to eliminate discrepancies.
• Coordinate BL amendments with shipping lines promptly to avoid customs hold-ups or late documentation fees.
• Prepare complete shipping sets: Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Certificates of Origin, Bills of Entry/Shipping Bills, and Phytosanitary/Inspection Certificates.
• Work with Customs House Agents to expedite customs clearance for import and export shipments.
• Track cargo movement from Port of Loading to Port of Discharge using carrier systems.
• Liaise with ocean/carrier lines and freight forwarders to obtain freight quotes, bookings, and vessel schedules.
• Resolve shipping line disputes, port demurrage/detention issues, and documentation delays.
• Ensure compliance with foreign trade policies, INCOTERMS, DGFT rules, and local customs regulations.

Job Overview

We are seeking an accurate, detail-oriented BL & Shipping Documentation Specialist to oversee international shipping documentation, with a primary focus on Bill of Lading (BL) management. In this role, you will interface directly with ocean carriers, freight forwarders, customs house agents (CHAs), and internal sales/finance teams. You will ensure all ocean and air freight documentation—including Master Bills of Lading (MBL) and House Bills of Lading (HBL)—are processed seamlessly, accurately, and in compliance with global trade regulations.

Key Responsibilities
