Job summary

CIEL HR is seeking a Shift Production Supervisor in India to oversee production against targets, maintain SHE standards, and ensure quality and OEE. You will lead a multi-skilled shift team, drive safety culture, and report deviations with corrective actions.

You will liaise with Quality, Maintenance, Planning & Logistics, and coordinate resources to meet site plans. Strong communication and decisive action are essential to manage external relationships and ensure smooth operations.

Responsibilities

• Shift production against targets including SHE, Quality, production rates (OEE), and customer satisfaction.
• Identify deviations from targets, investigate causes, and recommend corrective actions.
• Lead a multi-skilled shift team; coach, develop, monitor performance, and uphold safety standards.
• Understand diverse production plants/processes to identify risks and solve problems for improvement.
• Communicate with production team and functions on site; be first contact for Croda in operational issues.
• Plan and organize materials and resources on shift to meet site logistics and production plans.
• Risk assess activities and ensure permits to work on the shift are adequate.

Job description

• 1. To be responsible for shift production against targets including SHE, Quality, production rates (OEE), customer satisfaction. To report on any deviation from targets and investigate the causes and recommend corrective actions.
• 2. To identify and deal with emergency situations and follow emergency procedures, this will involve direct liaison with the emergency services and regulatory bodies (HSE, EA etc)
• 3. To efficiently manage and motivate a shift team of multi-skilled technicians, having some measure of responsibility (site specific) for training, coaching, development, performance monitoring, discipline, appraisal, recognition of their team. To be highly visible in encouraging safe behavior, setting high standards and not tolerating substandard work especially in relation to rule and procedural based violations.
• 4. To understand a complex variety of production plants and processes in order to identify risk and solve problems and make frequent decisions with potentially serious consequences around safety, quality and prioritization of production. To lead multi-disciplinary teams to decide on and implement ideas for improvement.
• 5. To effectively and accurately communicate with people in the production team and other functions on site (e.g. Quality, Maintenance, Planning & logistics). This will be mainly verbal, e-mail and written. To be the first point of contact for Croda in operational issues affecting our key external relationships. The shift managers will have to make timely decisions which can have large impact which could effect external organizations and other companies.
• 6. To be accountable for the planning and organization of materials and resources on shift and oncoming shifts in order to achieve the site logistics and production plans. This can involve manpower outside the production teams.
• 7. To risk assess relevant activities and advise on risk reduction. To be accountable for the standard of permits to work issued on their shift.
