Job summary

Nestlé India is seeking a Site Safety Officer for our Gujarat/Sanand plant. You will protect business continuity by managing safety and occupational health issues, ensuring compliance with internal and external requirements across the site.

The role collaborates with cross-functional teams and the Market SHE Officer to drive safety initiatives, investigate incidents, and pursue continuous improvement in safety performance. A background in engineering and industrial safety is required.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of safety/health/environmental experience in manufacturing.
• Experience implementing safety protocols, procedures, or systems.
• Proven track record of improving safety performance.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders.
• Proven ability to engage and motivate employees to follow safety protocols.

• Drive OSHR objective setting and advise managers on safety objectives and initiatives.
• LTFR - 2.5 per million man-hours exposed.
• Safety training compliance; ensure all employees are trained and assessed as competent in safety responsibilities.

Main Purpose of Job

Site Safety Officer is responsible to protect business sustainability and company image by managing all safety and occupational health issues, concerns and obligations.

Safety Officer must ensure an active, effective and credible safety management system, in full compliance with all internal and external requirements in factory. The role has a cross functional responsibility of tasks together with other departments and Market SHE Officer to develop and drive initiatives leading to continuous improvement in safety performance.

Key Responsibility

• OSHR self-audit score > 85%. Drive OSHR objective setting and advise managers on appropriate safety objectives and initiatives.
• LTFR - 2.5 per million man-hours exposed.
• Safety Training Compliance; to ensure all employees are trained and assessed as competent in their safety responsibilities, relevant legislation, site standards and systems to enable compliance.
• Risk assessment
• Investigations of near misses reported
• Behaviour-based safety observations
• Compliance with external audit points
• Maintenance of OHSAS 18001 certification

Key Experience Required

• 1. 2-5 Years of previous professional experience in safety, health, or environmental fields, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
• 2. Successfully demonstrated ability to manage change initiatives related to safety protocols, procedures, or systems.
• 3. Experience in driving continuous improvement in safety performance through the implementation of new initiatives or processes.
• 4. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at various levels of the organization.
• 5. Proven track record of achieving safety objectives and targets by engaging and motivating employees to adhere to safety protocols and procedures.

Qualification

B.tech (Electrical/Mechanical/ Chemical), Post graduate diploma in Industrial Safety from a State recognized Institute.
