Job summary

MAHINDRA DEFENCE SYSTEMS is seeking a seasoned Safety Officer to drive EHS compliance and risk mitigation across a manufacturing site in India. The role focuses on OSH Code adherence, PTW management, and incident investigations, with responsibilities extending to industrial hygiene and environmental duties.

The ideal candidate will have 10–14 years in safety within manufacturing, a PG in Industrial Safety, and robust knowledge of OHSAS 18001 and ISO 45001.

Qualifications

• 10-14 years of experience as a Safety Officer or similar in manufacturing.
• PG degree/diploma in Industrial Safety (government recognized).
• Strong knowledge of HSE Management Systems (OHSAS 18001) and ISO 45001.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with OSH Code, factory safety, environmental and statutory requirements.
• Conduct HIRA/JSA, safety inspections, audits and risk assessments.
• Manage PTW systems including Hot Work, Work at Height, Confined Space, LOTO and contractor activities.
• Investigate incidents, near misses and accidents; implement corrective actions.
• Lead emergency preparedness, fire safety programs and mock drills.
• Monitor occupational health, industrial hygiene and environmental compliance.
• Conduct safety inductions, toolbox talks and awareness programs.
• Manage contractor safety and adherence to site safety standards.
• Prepare EHS reports and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Lead ESG/sustainability initiatives at the site.
