Responsibilities

• Support development of HSE management systems to ensure compliance with OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001.
• Assist in implementing the HSE strategy across the manufacturing project to promote a safe and healthy workplace.
• Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify hazards and implement mitigation measures.
• Ensure compliance with statutory safety regulations and client-specific guidelines.
• Lead safety inspections, audits, and walkthroughs to identify improvements and enforce actions.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses; perform root cause analysis and recommend preventive measures.
• Organise and deliver HSE training sessions for all employees to promote a proactive safety culture.
• Drive behavioural safety initiatives encouraging reporting of unsafe acts and conditions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve sustainability targets (energy, waste, water).
• Oversee adherence to the Permit to Work system for maintenance and production activities.
• Work with teams to perform risk assessments of processes; ensure changes go through MOC.
• Develop, review and update Safety Operating Procedures aligned with regulatory standards.

• Investigate all accidents, incidents, and near misses promptly, perform root cause analysis, and recommend preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
• Organise and deliver frequent health, safety, and environment training sessions to all employees, fostering a proactive safety culture and raising awareness of SHE protocols.
• Drive behavioural safety initiatives encouraging employees to safely report unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and near misses without fear of reprisal.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish and achieve sustainability targets focusing on energy conservation, waste minimisation, and water usage reduction.
• Oversee and verify adherence to the Permit to Work (PTW) system for all maintenance and production activities requiring formal permission.
• Partner with operational teams to perform ongoing risk assessments of new and existing processes, ensuring all changes undergo Management of Change (MOC) procedures before implementation.
• Develop, review, and update Safety Operating Procedures (SOPs) aligned with current regulatory standards and operational best practices.
• Identify, assess, and help prevent hazards specific to plant operations and manufacturing activities.
• Maintain accurate safety documentation including records of inspections, audits, training, incident investigations, and compliance reports.
• Compile and analyse safety performance data, metrics and statistics to generate reports supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
• Promote open communication and employee engagement in safety matters at all levels within the organisation.

Applicants should possess a relevant educational background, typically a Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering disciplines. Qualifications include but are not limited to:

Experience working within safety management frameworks such as OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 is highly beneficial, as is familiarity with conducting hazard analyses, risk assessments, and incident investigations on an operational scale.

Proven capability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment is expected.

Exposure to sustainability initiatives including energy efficiency, waste reduction, and resource conservation will be considered advantageous.
