Job summary

Service Technician based in Chennai is responsible for diagnosing and rectifying defects in Fire Detection and Alarm Systems and control panels onboard ships. The role includes retrofit and commissioning of AFDS and fire extinguishing systems, plus annual maintenance contracts.

Candidate should have a Diploma/Degree in Instrumentation or Electronics Engineering with 5–7 years of hands-on service experience and be willing to travel across Indian ports.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and rectify defects in Fire Detection and Alarm Systems (FDAS) and control panels onboard ships.

What you will do

• Diagnose and rectify defects in Fire Detection and Alarm Systems (FDAS) and control panels onboard ships.
• Execute retrofit and commissioning activities for AFDS and fire extinguishing systems (CO₂, FM200, Water Mist, Foam).
• Perform annual maintenance contracts (AMC) for AFDS and fire extinguishing systems.
• Troubleshoot software issues within control panels, including program upload/download.

How you will do it

• Interpret manuals, P&ID diagrams, and electrical drawings for troubleshooting.
• Apply control philosophy knowledge to implement retrofit solutions.
• Analyze onboard logbook data to identify and resolve system defects.
• Ensure compliance with marine safety standards and operational excellence.

What we look for

• Education: Diploma/Degree in Instrumentation or Electronics Engineering
• Experience: 5–7 years of hands‑on service experience
• Required Expertise: Servicing Addressable Fire Detection Systems and Fire Extinguishing Systems (CO₂, FM200, Water Mist, Foam); strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills; excellent communication and report‑writing abilities; willingness to travel across Indian ports.
• Preferred Knowledge: Conventional/addressable fire detection systems; experience with naval and marine ship systems.
