Job summary

Propel Industries in India is seeking a Field Service Engineer to provide on-site support for commercial vehicles across assigned territories. You will perform maintenance, diagnostics, and customer training to minimize downtime.

The role requires 3–7 years of hands-on experience with trucks, buses, and LCVs/HCVs, and a Diploma or degree in Mechanical/Automobile Eng with willingness to travel extensively across multiple states.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site technical support for commercial vehicles.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults using diagnostic tools.
• Inspect warranty-related part failures and coordinate with central team.
• Handle customer complaints, offer maintenance guidance, and train drivers/workshop staff.
• Monitor spare parts inventory and coordinate with logistics for dispatch.
• Maintain detailed service logs and daily travel reports for regional managers.

Key Responsibilities

• Field Service & Maintenance: Provide on-site technical support, breakdown assistance, and scheduled maintenance for commercial vehicles within the assigned territory.
• Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Diagnose complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults using diagnostic tools and technical manuals to ensure swift resolution.
• Warranty & Claims Management: Inspect warranty-related part failures, document claims accurately, and coordinate with the central technical team for timely settlements.
• Customer Support & Training: Handle customer complaints promptly, offer expert advice on vehicle maintenance, and conduct basic operational training for drivers and workshop mechanics.
• Spare Parts Management: Monitor local spare parts inventory, manage replacement requests, and coordinate with logistics for smooth dispatch.
• Reporting: Maintain detailed service logs, daily travel reports, and customer interaction logs to share insights with regional managers.

Locations: West Bengal, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Palani, Kanchipuram, Bellary, Andhra Pradesh (Multi-location / Field Role)

Key Skills & Competencies

• Technical Expertise: Hands-on experience in commercial vehicle (CV) servicing, engine diagnostics, transmission systems, air brakes, and electrical architecture.
• Core Skills: Field Service Operations, Advanced Troubleshooting, Mechanical & Electrical Diagnostics, Preventive Maintenance.
• Customer Handling: Strong communication skills with the ability to manage client expectations during high-stress vehicle breakdowns.
• Mobility: Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned region/territory on short notice.

Candidate Profile

• Education: Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical / Automobile Engineering (or equivalent).
• Experience: 3 to 7 years of proven hands-on field service experience handling commercial vehicles (Trucks, Buses, Tippers, LCVs/HCVs) with OEMs or major authorized dealerships.
• Languages: Proficiency in English and local regional languages of the assigned posting areas.
