Persistent is seeking a Senior Wireless Software Engineer in Pune with 7–12 years of experience in wireless communications. The role focuses on PHY layer development for LTE/5G, along with C/C++ and MATLAB expertise to design, prototype, and validate advanced wireless solutions.

You will work on NTN/LEO concepts, multi-core optimization, and end-to-end integration with global teams, while maintaining high software quality and performance across platforms.

Qualifications

• 7–12 years of experience in Wireless Communications, PHY development, or wireless software engineering.
• Strong practical experience with 3GPP wireless standards including LTE and 5G technologies.
• Proficiency in C/C++ programming for real-time, high-performance software development.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in 3GPP (LTE, 5G) and 3GPP2, along with proficiency in C/C++ and MATLAB. This role involves designing and developing innovative solutions for next-generation wireless communication systems.

What You'll Do:

• Design and implement new Physical Layer (PHY) features for advanced wireless communication systems.
• Develop, prototype, and validate innovative wireless communication concepts and algorithms.
• Build high-performance software solutions for LTE, 5G, and next-generation wireless technologies.
• Optimize, profile, and debug software for multi-core processing architectures used in modern base stations and user equipment.
• Design and develop realistic channel models for Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN), including Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite systems.
• Implement and enhance signal processing algorithms for wireless communication systems.
• Develop receiver-side algorithms to improve wireless system performance and reliability.
• Collaborate with system architects, algorithm teams, and software developers to integrate PHY layer features into end-to-end wireless solutions.
• Analyze wireless network behavior and identify opportunities for performance optimization.
• Contribute to the design and enhancement of modulation, coding, MIMO, beamforming, and advanced wireless communication techniques.
• Participate in feasibility studies, technology evaluations, and proof-of-concept activities for emerging wireless technologies.
• Support testing, validation, troubleshooting, and deployment of wireless communication features.
• Ensure software quality, scalability, maintainability, and adherence to engineering best practices.
• Work closely with cross-functional global teams to deliver successful project outcomes within defined timelines.

Expertise You'll Bring:

• 7 to 12 years of experience in Wireless Communications, PHY Layer Development, or Wireless Software Engineering.
• Strong practical experience with 3GPP wireless standards including LTE and 5G technologies.
• Knowledge of 3GPP2 standards and wireless communication protocols.
• Advanced proficiency in C/C++ programming for real-time, high-performance software development.
• Strong expertise in MATLAB for algorithm development, modeling, simulation, and signal processing.
• Proven experience in Physical Layer (PHY) design and implementation.
• Strong understanding of modulation, channel coding, MIMO, beamforming, synchronization, and receiver design techniques.
• Experience developing and validating signal processing algorithms for wireless systems.
• Hands-on experience with Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) technologies and LEO satellite communication systems.
• Strong knowledge of wireless channel modeling and propagation characteristics.
• Experience working with terrestrial networks (TN) and non-terrestrial networks (NTN).
• Expertise in optimizing and debugging software within multi-core and embedded processing environments.
• Experience with software development lifecycle methodologies and engineering best practices.
• Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies.
• Ability to integrate PHY layer components into complete wireless communication system architectures.
• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
