Job summary

Birlasoft in Pune, India seeks a Senior Transition Manager to own end-to-end client transitions, service takeovers, and transformation initiatives. This role ensures service continuity, effective knowledge transfer, and smooth handover to steady-state delivery with executive governance and stakeholder assurance.

You will lead planning, mobilization, and execution across multi-tower, multi-geography environments, aligning with contractual commitments and client expectations.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in leading complex IT service transitions, outsourcing takeovers, or large-scale transformation programs.
• Proven ability to influence CxO-level stakeholders and drive governance.
• Deep understanding of transition management, ITIL or equivalent, and delivery operating models.
• Experience managing multi-vendor, multi-region, multi-tower transitions (Applications, Infra, HR, OC/MOC).

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for planning, mobilizing, and executing complex transitions across multi-tower, multi-geography environments.
• Define transition strategy, timelines, governance, and success criteria aligned with client expectations.
• Act as single point of accountability for transition outcomes including service continuity and risk management.
• Establish transition governance with executive steering, reporting cadence, and escalation management.
• Develop integrated transition plans covering people, processes, technology, security, compliance, and financials.
• Engage with senior client and vendor stakeholders to ensure transparency and confidence.
• Lead knowledge transfer, service acceptance, and stabilization activities for steady-state handover.
• Identify and mitigate transition risks, dependencies, and issues with timely resolution.
• Collaborate with Sales, Bid Management, and Solutioning during pre-sales and due diligence.

The Senior Transition Manager is a strategic leadership role responsible for end-to-end ownership of complex client transitions, service takeovers, and transformation initiatives. The role ensures seamless service continuity, effective knowledge transfer, operational stabilization, and successful handover to steady-state delivery, while providing executive-level governance and stakeholder assurance.

Job Description:

• Provide overall leadership and accountability for planning, mobilizing, and executing complex transitions across multi-tower, multi-geography, and multi-vendor environments.
• Define and drive the transition strategy, approach, timelines, governance model, and success criteria in alignment with client expectations and contractual commitments.
• Serve as the single point of accountability for transition outcomes, including service continuity, knowledge transfer, risk management, and operational readiness.
• Establish and lead robust transition governance, including executive steering, reporting cadence, decision forums, and escalation management.
• Develop and manage integrated transition plans covering people, process, technology, security, compliance, and financials
• Engage with senior client & vendor stakeholders, internal leadership, and delivery partners to provide transparency, build confidence, and manage expectations throughout the transition lifecycle.
• Oversee and direct knowledge transfer, service acceptance, early life support, and stabilization activities to ensure smooth handover into steady-state operations.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate transition risks, dependencies, and issues; proactively drive resolution and ensure continuity of critical services.
• Collaborate closely with Sales, Bid Management, and Solutioning teams to provide transition inputs during pre-sales, due diligence, and solution design phases.
• Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing transition teams, including Transition Managers, SMEs, and cross-functional resources across regions.
• Ensure compliance with internal transition frameworks, service management standards (ITIL or equivalent), contractual obligations, and regulatory requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned, standardizing best practices, and evolving transition methodologies, tools, and accelerators.
• Provide regular, structured reporting to executive stakeholders on transition progress, risks, financials, and readiness metrics.

Mandatory Skills:

• Extensive experience (15+ years) in leading complex IT service transitions, outsourcing takeovers, or large-scale transformation programs.
• Strong leadership and governance skills with the ability to influence and engage CxO-level stakeholders.
• Deep understanding of transition management, service management frameworks (ITIL or equivalent), and delivery operating models.
• Proven ability to manage multi-vendor, multi-region, and multi-tower transition engagements (Applications, Infrastructure, HR Transition, Organization Change Management.
• Strong risk management, issue resolution, and decision-making capabilities in high-pressure environments.
• Excellent communication, executive reporting, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience contributing to pre-sales, solutioning, and due diligence activities for complex deals.

Education Qualification:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related discipline is required.
• MBA / Post‑graduate degree from a premier institute is preferred.
• Professional certifications such as ITIL, PMP, PRINCE2, Agile/Scrum are highly desirable.
