Job summary

Electromech Material Handling Systems in Pune is seeking an experienced Strategic Sourcing professional to lead electrical commodities procurement.

You will collaborate with Engineering, Production and Quality to drive cost reductions, manage supplier relationships, and implement TCO-based strategies.

The role requires 5–8 years in strategic sourcing for electrical components and hands-on ERP/SAP experience.

Qualifications

• BE/BTech in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 5–8 years in strategic sourcing or procurement of electrical commodities in manufacturing.
• Deep knowledge of electrical components used in overhead cranes and control systems.
• Strong negotiation, commercial, and analytical skills.
• Experience in supplier evaluation, contract management, and cost-reduction strategies.
• Proficiency with SAP and MS Excel; knowledge of sourcing tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic sourcing for electrical commodities (motors, cables, panels, transformers, VFDs).
• Evaluate and onboard suppliers; conduct technical and commercial evaluations; maintain supplier relationships.
• Develop and implement commodity strategies aligned with business goals.
• Conduct market intelligence, cost trend analysis, and track price fluctuations.
• Negotiate contracts, finalize commercial terms, and review supplier performance.
• Apply total cost of ownership in procurement decisions for long-term value.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Quality to integrate sourcing strategy.
• Drive cost reduction via alternate sourcing, process optimization, and value engineering.
• Use Excel and data analytics to generate insights for decision-making.
• Maintain procurement data and documentation in SAP; ensure compliance.

Job description

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead strategic sourcing efforts for electrical commodities motors, cables, control panels, transformers, VFDs, etc.
• Evaluate and onboard suppliers, perform technical and commercial evaluations, and maintain robust supplier relationships.
• Develop and implement commodity strategies aligned with business goals.
• Conduct market intelligence, cost trend analysis, and track price fluctuations.
• Execute contract negotiations, commercial terms finalization, and supplier performance reviews.
• Apply TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) approach in procurement decisions to achieve long-term value.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Production, and Quality to ensure seamless integration of sourcing strategy.
• Drive cost reduction initiatives through alternative sourcing, process optimization, and value engineering.
• Utilize Excel and data analytics tools to generate insights and support decision-making.
• Maintain procurement data and documentation in SAP and ensure compliance with internal controls.

Required Skills and Experience:

• B.E./B. Tech in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 5 to 8 years of experience in Strategic Sourcing or Procurement of electrical commodities in a manufacturing/engineering setup.
• Deep understanding of electrical components used in overhead cranes and control systems.
• Strong negotiation, commercial, and analytical skills.
• Proven experience in supplier evaluation, contract management, and cost reduction strategies.
• Working knowledge of sourcing tools, ERP systems (SAP preferred), and MS Excel.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
• Strong market intelligence and supplier network in the electrical domain.
