Job Purpose
The Senior Service Engineer is responsible for delivering technical service, engineering support, and maintenance operations within the assigned territory. This role ensures peak equipment functionality, handles complex product troubleshooting, drives service contract revenue, and serves as the technical liaison between customers, distributors, and corporate engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Service & Field Operations
Execute routine repairs, preventive maintenance, and emergency servicing of medical diagnostic instrumentation.
Install and commission complex equipment setups at customer facilities, validating full functionality against technical specifications.
Coordinate problem resolution across engineering, application, and customer service teams to fast-track repair timelines.
Manage regional spare parts inventory to ensure immediate availability and minimize equipment downtime.
2. Knowledge Management & Training
Develop technical service handbooks, engineering bulletins, and troubleshooting guides based on field investigations.
Compile and analyze problem statistics to identify product failure trends, recommending design or manufacturing modifications.
Conduct technical training on safe equipment operation for internal team members, end customers, and third-party distributors.
3. Commercial & Stakeholder Management
Drive sales of Service Contracts (AMC/CMC) to maximize recurring service revenue streams within the territory.
Act as the primary communication link between customers and the company, resolving complaints to protect brand reputation.
Assist in the management of distributors, auditing their technical execution and service capability metrics.
Contribute to the annual budget exercise for the Technical Service division by supplying regional cost and revenue forecasts.
Maintain precise documentation of all field service reports, performance evaluations, and machine logs.
Requirements & Qualifications
Educational Background
Minimum Requirement: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Electronic, Electrical, Biomedical, or Mechanical Engineering.
Experience & Competencies
Field Experience: Minimum 2+ years of progressive hands-on engineering experience in equipment servicing (Clinical Diagnostics preferred).
Technical Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in electromechanical systems, software-instrument integration, and application troubleshooting.
Software Skills: High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for data analysis and reporting.
Communication: Strong command of English (both spoken and written) for technical reporting and customer-facing negotiations.
Performance Measurements (KPIs)
Quarterly Objective Progress: Measured via systematic objective reviews conducted by the Regional Service Manager (RSM).
Customer Satisfaction: Quality of internal and external customer feedback regarding turnaround time and solution effectiveness.
Revenue Contribution: Success in achieving service contract (AMC/CMC) renewal and sales targets.
Operational Accuracy: Timeliness, completeness, and precision of field records, performance reports, and inventory logs.
