Job description

Responsibilities

• Perform daily operations of WACO machine on casings in line with ISO:9001 & ISO:19443 along with SQDC approach to achieve shift‑wise targets as per machining inputs & standard work.
• Contribute to team efforts in accomplishing organizational goals.
• Follow site EHS procedures and nuclear safety awareness, and conduct daily risk assessment at shift start.
• Report any stop work or concerns related to EHS & quality.
• Perform and assign activities in line with work‑specific regulatory compliance and organizational EHS policy.
• Assess risks & hazards associated with tasks and develop mitigation actions.
• Undergo required EHS trainings to work safely and perform tasks in a safe manner.
• Acquire the necessary authorisation / training before performing an activity.
• Ensure that contract workers perform assigned activities safely while working with you or in the nearby area.
• Maintain knowledge of basic EHS guidelines, environmental impact, and risks related to machine‑shop & assembly activities.
• Understand nuclear safety culture and ITNS‑I & A (Important To Nuclear Safety – Item & Activity).
• Review and understand machining documents such as MOPs, SOPs, drawings, KSL, program files, tool sheets, and FMEAs.
• Follow TPM procedures such as AM checklist and participate in PM activities.
• Have knowledge of casing components and operate CNC milling & turning machines.
• Execute job set‑up & offset, tool set‑up & offset, and precise quality measurements as per instructions & requirements.
• Perform nuclear casing & parts machining, including turning & milling tasks such as parting plane holes machining, gland bore machining, taper pin holes, ID/OD turning, drilling, tapping, thread milling, boring, key slot machining, blade groove/RCRV/OLV groove machining, casing roughing & finishing, seal strip & shroud turning, and pipe machining.
• Monitor production, adjust feed, and set appropriate machine parameters.
• Use measuring instruments, perform error checks, and apply findings.
• Apply knowledge of cutting tools, troubleshoot machines, and understand CNC & manual programmes.
• Apply lean approaches such as 5S, TPM, Kaizen, and maintain a safe & clean workplace.
• Coordinate with fellow operator teams and cross‑functional teams for uninterrupted production.
• Support other machine teams & assembly teams.

Basic Qualifications

• ITI‑machinist or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years experience in machining of casing parts (turbine/generator).
• Basic computer skills.
