Job description

Overview

In this role you will lead the planning and execution of machine shop operations for turbine casing components. You will define manufacturing processes, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and coordinate with shop planners to ensure projects meet quality, schedule, and utilization targets.

Responsibilities

• Define and finalize manufacturing processes in MOPs & SOPs for every component of turbine casing before production starts.
• Determine optimum handbook hours and plate requirements for each project.
• Identify required project tools and tackles, and drive procurement to ensure timely availability.
• Prepare delivery lists for dispatch.
• Validate MOP hours and process steps with the shop.
• Coordinate and support the Shop Planner for project scheduling and outsourcing of process activities.
• Identify and resolve technical issues before and during production.
• Provide NCR dispositions and coordinate with engineering for corrective actions.
• Record learnings and process improvements, sustaining them through continuous updates.
• Apply quality and lean tools such as VSM, PFMEA, 8D, and 5S.
• Empower and support shop engineers for process change suggestions and implementation.
• Drive new product qualification and prepare related documentation.
• Continuously improve manufacturing processes using technical experience and analytical thinking.

Qualifications

• BE/BTech/Diploma in Mechanical/Production.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, including at least 5 years core experience in process/method of heavy machining and assembly.
• Excellent process engineering capabilities and analytical skills.
• Thorough knowledge of heavy machining and assembly processes; knowledge of steam turbine systems is beneficial.
• Experience with CNC turning, milling, boring, tooling, job set‑up and inspection/quality methods.
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings, standards, and specifications.
• Strong EHS & quality focus.
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
