Job summary

U K Paints in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, is seeking an experienced maintenance technician for mechanical maintenance across pumps, gearboxes, valves, piping, and rotating equipment. Education includes ITI Fitter or Mechanical Trade, with a Diploma in Mechanical as an added advantage. 10–12 years of relevant experience in chemical or painting plants is preferred.

Qualifications

• ITI Fitter or Mechanical Trade qualification required or Diploma preferred.
• 10–12 years of hands-on mechanical maintenance experience in chemical/paint plants.
• Experience with pumps, gearboxes, valves, piping, bearings, mechanical seals, rotating equipment.

Responsibilities

• Carry out preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of mechanical equipment.
• Install, dismantle, inspect, repair, and assemble mechanical systems.
• Maintain pumps, gearboxes, agitators, reactors, valves, piping, and conveyors.
• Perform pump and shaft alignment, bearing and seal maintenance, and basic fabrication.
• Identify faults such as vibration, leakage, abnormal noise, overheating, and misalignment.
• Follow safety procedures, LOTO, PPE, and report spare parts needs.

Job description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Carry out preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of mechanical equipment.
• Perform installation, dismantling, inspection, repair, and assembly of mechanical equipment.
• Maintain centrifugal, gear, screw, and AODD pumps, gearboxes, agitators, reactors, valves, piping systems, and conveyors.
• Maintain bearings, shafts, couplings, Single/double mechanical seals, and other rotating equipment components.
• Perform pump alignment, coupling alignment, leveling, and shaft alignment.
• Replace bearings, single/double mechanical seals, glands, couplings, belts, gears, and other worn components.
• Identify faults such as vibration, leakage, abnormal noise, overheating, and misalignment.
• Carry out fitting, drilling, grinding, cutting, and basic fabrication work as required.
• Use mechanical hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments safely and correctly.
• Assist in the installation and commissioning of new machinery and equipment.
• Follow work permits, LOTO (Lockout/Tagout)/isolation procedures, PPE, and plant safety rules.
• Maintain records of breakdowns and spare parts used.
• Report abnormal equipment conditions and required spare parts to the maintenance supervisor.

Competencies required:

• Strong practical knowledge of mechanical fitting and maintenance.
• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
• Knowledge of pump maintenance, alignment, bearings, shafts, couplings, gearboxes, and mechanical seals.
• Basic knowledge of fabrication and welding work.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
• Technically skilled, disciplined, safety-conscious, and willing to work in shifts and attend emergency breakdowns.

Education/ skills / experience:

• Education: ITI Fitter / Mechanical Trade preferred. If possibility, Diploma in Mechanical will be an added advantage.
• Experience: 10-12 years of relevant hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance.
• Industry Focus: Experience in chemical, process, or painting plants is preferred. Hands-on experience in pumps, gearboxes, valves, piping, bearings, mechanical seals, and rotating equipment is desirable.
