Job summary

Luthra Group Company is seeking a maintenance technician for its manufacturing plant in Surat. The role involves plant inspection, preventive maintenance, mechanical fitting and repair, and fabrication/welding tasks to ensure equipment reliability and safe operations.

Ideal candidates have ITI or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with 3+ years of experience in a production environment; knowledge of pumps, gearboxes, and welding is preferred.

Qualifications

• ITI/ Diploma in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 3+ years in Manufacturing Plant or similar process industry environment.

Responsibilities

• Plant Inspection & Maintenance: conduct regular inspection tours of plant equipment and pumps.
• Mechanical Fitting & Repair: fit and repair components like gear reduction units, couplings, pumps and hydraulic cylinders.
• Fabrication & Welding: execute fabrication work and plan welding operations; perform welding of pipes and fixtures.
• Safety & Compliance: complete task analyses and follow SOPs; maintain safe work practices and documentation.
• Operational Support: supervise foremen/workers and maintain housekeeping in production area.
• Technical Skills: sketch and measure mechanical components for replacement or fabrication.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

• Plant Inspection & Maintenance:
• Conduct regular inspection tours of plant equipment, including raw water pumps and critical process pumps, to check for proper operation.
• Perform preventive maintenance and make necessary repairs to maintain equipment reliability.
• Execute machine repair and maintain detailed records of all preventive maintenance activities.
• Mechanical Fitting & Repair:
• Perform general fitting and repair work on components such as Gear Reduction Units, Couplings, Sludge Feed Pumps and other Critical Process Pumps, Hydraulic Cylinders, and Pump Impeller Rotating Assemblies.
• Perform mechanical repairs, manufacture components, and carry out other duties as directed by the Mechanical Supervisor.
• Fabrication & Welding:
• Execute fabrication work as required.
• Plan welding operations and perform Troubleshooting on welding tasks.
• Perform welding of Pipes, equipments & fixtures.
• Safety & Compliance:
• Ensure sufficient task analysis is completed before starting work to carry out work safely.
• Execute all assigned duties in a timely and safe manner.
• Ensure all work is carried out strictly as per SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and complete all required documentation on time.
• Operational Support:
• Supervise and guide Foreman & workman activities as required.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping and sanitation in the production area.
• Technical Skills:
• Demonstrated ability to sketch and accurately measure mechanical components from Gearboxes, Pumps, and other Drive Equipment for component replacement or fabrication.

Preferred candidate profile

• Education: ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience: 3+ years of experience in a Manufacturing Plant or similar process industry environment.

Skills:

Proven hands‑on experience in fitting, pump repair, gearbox maintenance, and industrial welding/fabrication.
