Job summary

Onward Technologies in Pune, India seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer for Package Engineering. The role covers static and rotating equipment, vendor coordination, and interface management within Oil & Gas, energy and EPC sectors.

With 10-15 years of relevant experience, the candidate will oversee piping/structural interfaces and 3D modelling using Inventor or E3D. Leadership of design reviews, bid evaluations, and compliance to codes is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors in mechanical engineering from a recognized university.
  • 10–15 years of relevant Oil & Gas and energy experience.
  • Strong experience in mechanical package engineering, including static and rotating equipment.
  • Experience with EPC contractors, vendors and international clients.
  • Exposure to FEED and detailed engineering environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical engineering activities from design through client interface, procurement, manufacturing, inspection and delivery.
  • Prepare and review datasheets, mechanical specs, RFQs, requisitions and technical documentation.
  • Support static equipment including vessels, tanks, heat exchangers, filters, separators and packaged systems.
  • Support rotating equipment including pumps, compressors, blowers and fans.
  • Review vendor technical offers and conduct Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE).
  • Review and approve vendor documents, GA drawings, datasheets, calculations and inspection reports.
  • Review equipment layouts and 3D models for piping routing, structural interfaces, access and maintenance.
  • Coordinate with vendors to resolve technical queries and deviations.
  • Participate in design reviews, HAZOP/HAZID, model reviews and constructability reviews.
  • Support procurement and project execution through vendor inspections and FAT; monitor deliverables.
  • Identify technical risks and opportunities for cost/schedule optimization.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer Package

Engineering with 1015 years of experience in Oil & Gas, Energy, EPC, or related industrial projects. The candidate will be responsible for mechanical package engineering activities covering static and rotating equipment, vendor coordination, technical evaluation, and multidisciplinary engineering interfaces. The candidate should have good working knowledge of piping and structural interfaces and be familiar with Inventor 3D and E3D software.

Preferred Experience

Experience in Oil & Gas, LNG, Hydrogen, Fuel Cell, Carbon Capture,

Power Generation, Renewable Energy, Process Plants, or other complex Energy projects will be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead mechanical engineering activities from all design phases through client interface, procurement, manufacturing, inspection, and project delivery.
  • Prepare and review equipment datasheets, mechanical specifications, RFQs, requisitions, and technical documentation.
  • Provide engineering support for static equipment, including pressure vessels, tanks, heat exchangers, filters, separators, and packaged systems.
  • Provide engineering support for rotating equipment, including pumps, compressors, blowers, fans, and associated packages.
  • Review vendor technical offers and conduct Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE).
  • Review and approve vendor documents including GA drawings, datasheets, calculations, equipment drawings, performance data, and inspection documentation.
  • Review equipment layouts and 3D models for piping routing, structural interfaces, access, maintenance, lifting, transportation, and operational requirements.
  • Coordinate with vendors to resolve technical queries, deviations, clarifications, and engineering issues.
  • Participate in design reviews, HAZOP/HAZID, model reviews, constructability reviews, and technical meetings as required.
  • Support procurement and project execution through vendor inspections, FAT, manufacturing follow-up, and final documentation. Monitor engineering deliverables and ensure compliance with project specifications, client requirements, applicable codes, and international standards.
  • Support project teams in identifying technical risks, cost impacts, schedule impacts, and design optimization opportunities.
Technical Requirements
  • Strong experience in Static & Rotating Equipment Engineering and Package Engineering.
  • Good understanding of Oil & Gas / Energy industry equipment and processes.
  • Good knowledge of piping and structural engineering interfaces.
  • Ability to interpret and review P&IDs, equipment datasheets, GA drawings, piping layouts, equipment layouts, and 3D models.
  • Familiarity with relevant API, ASME, ASTM, and other applicable international standards/codes.
  • Familiarity with API 610, API 614, API 617, API 618, API 650, ASME Section VIII, and other applicable equipment standards are desirable.
  • Familiar with Inventor 3D and E3D for equipment modelling, layout review, and multidisciplinary coordination.
  • Good understanding of BOM/MTO, equipment interfaces, material specifications, and engineering deliverables.
  • Experience in RFQ preparation, vendor evaluation, TBE, vendor document review, inspection, and FAT.

  • Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering from a recognized university.
  • 10–15 years of relevant experience in Oil & Gas and Energy.
  • Strong experience in mechanical package engineering, preferably involving both static and rotating equipment.
  • Experience working with EPC contractors, equipment manufacturers, vendors, and international clients.
  • Experience in multidisciplinary engineering environments with exposure to FEED, detailed engineering, procurement and project execution.
