Job Summary
- Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with 12+ years of proven expertise in product design and development.
- Design & Development of mechanical systems, components, and assemblies. Develop prototypes and manage design iterations from concept through production.
- Manufacturing & Process Engineering: Design for manufacturability considering plastics, sheet metal, machining, and casting processes and collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure production readiness and cost optimization.
- Technical Analysis & Documentation: Perform engineering calculations and basic structural analysis using first principles and FEA, and conduct hand calculations for design verification and validation. Manage product data and configuration through Windchill PLM system.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, procurement, and project management.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes: plastic injection molding, sheet metal fabrication, machining, and casting.
- Knowledge of DFMEA methodologies and risk assessment techniques.
- Proficiency in engineering analysis fundamentals and hand calculations.
- Understanding of GD&T and international standards (ASME, ISO).
- Knowledge of material selection and mechanical properties.
- Proficiency in Creo (Pro/E) for 3D modelling and 2D drawings.
- Working knowledge of Windchill PLM for product data management and BOM configuration.
Soft Skills
- Experience in Vendor Qualification, developing Manufacturing Quality plan, Tooling and component qualification & thorough understanding of PPAP process.
- Knowledge of various fabrication methods for the manufacturing of metal and plastic parts – machining, welding, sheet metal fabrication, and injection molding.
- Experience in lab automation, IVD, analytical, or biomedical instruments.
- Knowledge of liquid handling principles (dispensing, pumping, fluid routing).
- Exposure to ISO 13485, ISO 14971 or regulated product development.
- Experience working with global suppliers and contract manufacturers.
- Hands‑on experience in prototype build, testing, and root cause analysis.
