Job Summary
We are looking for 10+ years of experience in Mechanical Product Design as a Technical Lead for complete design and development of precision mechanical systems and modules of high-performance analytical instruments from concept through production.
- Lead end-to-end mechanical design of complex systems and modules such as enclosures, pumps, valves, flow paths, column ovens, and detector housings.
- Translate system-level and chemistry requirements into robust mechanical concepts, 3D models, and detailed engineering drawings.
- Perform engineering calculations for fluid flow, thermal management, sealing, and mechanical stress to ensure design robustness and reliability.
- Lead prototype builds, integration testing, and design validation in collaboration with cross-disciplinary teams (electrical, firmware, chemistry).
- Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles, coordinate with suppliers and manufacturing partners for tooling and part readiness.
- Own component and subsystem qualification, including environmental, vibration, and lifetime testing.
Must Have Skill Set
- Experience designing analytical or medical instruments or sample preparation systems
- Familiarity with regulatory and safety standards for laboratory instruments (e.g., CE, UL).
- Exposure to PDM/PLM systems and configuration management processes.
- Knowledge of thermal simulation tools (ANSYS, COMSOL, etc.) and performing tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Strong ownership mindset with the ability to lead projects independently.
- Highly detail-oriented, with a commitment to design excellence and reliability.
- Effective communicator with cross-functional teams and suppliers.
- Passion for innovation, continuous improvement, and mentoring others.
Essential Skill Set
- Hands on experience of managing complete existing product development activities (Namely Cost out, Quality and Product obsolescence) for product-based organizations.
- Good experience on existing product development process and working with remote team.
- Strong in mechanical engineering fundamentals
- Minimum of 5~8 years of relevant engineering experience
- Experience in Vendor Qualification, developing Manufacturing Quality plan, Tooling and component qualification & Thorough understanding of PPAP process.
Desirable Skill Set
- Excellent organizational skills required to manage small and large projects.
- Ability to apply engineering principles and practices in the design, development, and verification of possible solutions
- Ability to develop design concepts and turn into finished/product launch.
- Mechanical design knowledge ranging from component design to system level.
- Knowledge on either one of the below processes:
- - Value engineering methodologies and how to apply them.
- - Quality Project execution and standards such as Risk assessment, Root cause analysis procedures, DFMEA, PFMEA, ISO, etc.
- - Obsolescence management
- Knowledge of DFM & DFA with respect to ease of manufacture and assembly.
- Oversee testing and analysis of products to determine product performance.
- Knowledge of various fabrication methods for the manufacturing of metal and plastic parts – machining, welding, sheet metal fabrication, and injection molding is required.
- Skilled in 3D modeling software (Solid Works) is preferred.
