Job Summary
Mechanical Design Engineer with 5–10 years of experience in 3D/2D design, responsible for developing mechanical components and assemblies using Creo and managing product data through Windchill. The role focuses primarily on design, with a working understanding of core manufacturing processes.
- Create 3D models and detailed 2D drawings of mechanical parts and assemblies using Creo with appropriate GD&T.
- Translate product requirements and specifications into robust design concepts and detailed engineering solutions.
- Support design reviews, incorporate feedback, and iterate designs to meet performance, cost, and quality targets.
- Apply basic Design for Manufacturing principles considering key processes such as plastics, sheet metal, machining, and casting.
- Collaborate with manufacturing and suppliers to understand process constraints and incorporate them into designs at a high level.
- Perform basic hand calculations and first-principles checks (stresses, fits, deflections) to support design decisions.
- Coordinate with analysis/CAE teams by providing clean geometry, load cases, and constraints, and implement recommendations in the design.
- Work closely with project, quality, and manufacturing teams to ensure timely and accurate design deliverables.
- 5–10 years of experience in mechanical design and product development.
Technical Skills
- Expert-level proficiency in Creo for part, assembly, and drawing creation.
- Strong working experience with Windchill PLM for model management, BOMs, and change control.
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes (plastics, sheet metal, machining, casting) sufficient to design feasible parts.
- Working knowledge of GD&T and standard drafting practices.
- Understanding of DFMEA concepts and ability to contribute to design risk discussions is an added advantage.
Soft Skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with global and cross-functional teams.
- Good problem-solving skills with attention to detail and ownership of assigned design modules.
