Job summary

Jindal Stainless is seeking a Senior Manager – Mechanical Maintenance for the Hot Strip Mill to drive reliable, high-uptime operation. The role focuses on preventive, predictive, and shutdown maintenance, cost optimization, and leading a capable maintenance team across Roughing Mill, Finishing Mill, Down Coiler, Coil Box and hydraulic systems.

You will develop maintenance plans, implement condition monitoring, lead RCA discussions, coordinate with production and engineering, and ensure safety

Qualifications

• 12–15 years of mechanical maintenance experience in an integrated steel plant.
• Hands‑on HSM mechanical maintenance experience is mandatory.
• Exposure to large‑scale steel manufacturing operations and hydraulic systems.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute preventive, predictive, and shutdown maintenance for HSM mechanical equipment.
• Ensure high equipment availability by minimizing breakdowns and downtime.
• Maintain and troubleshoot Roughing Mill, Finishing Mill, Down Coiler, Coil Box, and hydraulic systems.
• Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Develop maintenance plans, condition monitoring strategies, and predictive schedules.
• Plan and manage spares, refurbishment, and timely equipment replacement.
• Drive cost optimization while maintaining world‑class maintenance standards.

Job Purpose

To ensure maximum equipment reliability, availability, and operational efficiency of the Hot Strip Mill (HSM) by implementing world-class preventive, predictive, and shutdown maintenance practices. The role is responsible for minimizing maintenance costs, achieving zero breakdowns, ensuring statutory compliance, and leading continuous improvement initiatives while developing high-performing maintenance teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and execute preventive, predictive, and shutdown maintenance activities for Hot Strip Mill mechanical equipment.
• Ensure high equipment availability and reliability by minimizing breakdowns and downtime.
• Maintain and troubleshoot critical HSM equipment, including:
• Roughing Mill
• Finishing Mill
• Down Coiler
• Coil Box
• Hydraulic Systems
• Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and implement sustainable corrective and preventive actions.
• Develop maintenance plans, equipment condition monitoring strategies, and predictive maintenance schedules.
• Plan and manage critical spares, refurbishment, and timely equipment replacement.
• Drive cost optimization while maintaining world-class maintenance standards.
• Identify and implement innovative engineering solutions to improve equipment performance and reliability.
• Ensure compliance with statutory, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Lead, coach, train, and develop maintenance teams to enhance technical competency and operational excellence.
• Coordinate with production, projects, and engineering teams to achieve plant performance targets.
• Monitor maintenance KPIs such as MTBF, MTTR, equipment availability, maintenance cost, and breakdown analysis.

Key Requirements

• 12–15 years of experience in Mechanical Maintenance within an integrated steel plant.
• Mandatory hands‑on experience in Hot Strip Mill (HSM) mechanical maintenance.
• Strong exposure to:
• Roughing Mill
• Finishing Mill
• Down Coiler
• Coil Box
• Hydraulic Systems
• Expertise in preventive, predictive, condition‑based, and shutdown maintenance.
• Experience in maintenance planning, troubleshooting, reliability improvement, and condition monitoring.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems and rotating equipment.
• Exposure to equipment refurbishment, spare parts planning, and lifecycle management.
• Experience in large‑scale steel manufacturing operations is essential.
