Job Purpose
To plan, coordinate, execute and monitor all maintenance activities for plant machinery, utilities and equipment to ensure high equipment availability, minimum breakdowns, improved MTBF, reduced MTTR, safe operations and optimum maintenance cost.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance Planning & Execution
- Plan, organize, coordinate and monitor Preventive, Predictive, Corrective, Condition-Based, Breakdown and Shutdown Maintenance activities.
- Ensure maximum availability and reliability of plant machinery and equipment.
- Handle maintenance of aluminium/aluminium alloy ingot casting machines, melting and holding furnaces, water pumps, air compressors, bag house/APCM, STP, DG sets, fire detection and suppression systems, CNC machines and other plant utilities.
- Equipment Reliability
- Monitor equipment performance and identify recurring failures.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Why-Why Analysis, FMEA and Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM).
- Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions to improve MTBF and reduce MTTR.
- Maintain equipment history, maintenance records and relevant protocols.
- Hydraulic & Pneumatic Maintenance
- Possess sound knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including:
- Pressure relief valves
- Pressure reducing valves
- Directional control valves
- Check valves
- Flow control valves
- Hydraulic pumps piston, vane and gear pumps
- Hydraulic cylinders, actuators and motors
- Understand hydraulic circuit diagrams and troubleshoot hydraulic/pneumatic equipment.
- Furnace & Casting Equipment
- Manage maintenance of melting and holding furnaces, including associated mechanical systems.
- Coordinate and supervise furnace refractory lining and related maintenance activities.
- Ensure reliable operation of aluminium casting and associated equipment.
- Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all maintenance work is carried out through the Permit-to-Work (PTW) system.
- Strictly implement Isolation and LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) procedures.
- Ensure compliance with plant safety standards and promote a strong safety culture.
- Conduct regular training for technicians, operators and supervisors on safe operating and maintenance practices.
- Ensure compliance with SMP/SOP, HIRA/DEC and Work Instructions (WI).
- Spare Parts Management
- Identify and maintain adequate inventory of critical machine and utility spare parts.
- Monitor consumption and ensure timely procurement of critical spares.
- Coordinate with the purchase team for timely availability of required spares.
- Maintain proper records and optimize spare-part inventory.
- Vendor Management
- Identify suitable vendors for equipment servicing, repair and maintenance.
- Coordinate vendor activities and monitor quality, timelines and work completion.
- Verify vendor work and recommend bills for processing.
- 4M & Resource Optimization
- Ensure optimum utilization of 4M – Man, Machine, Method and Material.
- Plan manpower and maintenance resources effectively.
- Improve maintenance practices to reduce downtime and operating costs.
- Projects & Improvements
- Execute maintenance improvement projects within defined time, cost and quality parameters.
- Support installation and commissioning of new machines and equipment.
- Implement engineering improvements, Kaizen, Poka-Yoke and other reliability initiatives.
- Continuous Improvement
- Participate in TPM, Quality Circle, 5S, Kaizen and Poka-Yoke activities.
- Identify opportunities for improving equipment reliability, productivity and energy efficiency.
- Drive initiatives for reducing breakdown frequency and maintenance costs.
- Training & Capability Development
- Conduct training for maintenance staff and technicians as per the Training Calendar/TNI.
- Develop technical capability of technicians in equipment maintenance, troubleshooting and safe work practices.
- Ensure awareness of Asset Optimization (AO), VSAP standards and applicable audit requirements.
- Documentation & Audits
- Maintain and update maintenance-related records and documents required for IATF, MACE, Environment and Safety audits.
- Ensure timely completion and availability of maintenance documentation.
- Maintain preventive maintenance schedules, checklists, equipment history and breakdown records.
Candidate Profile
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
- 8–10 years of relevant experience in maintenance.
- Experience in aluminium recycling, aluminium foundry, casting, furnace, CNC machining, utilities or heavy manufacturing environments.
- Strong hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Good knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Experience in preventive and predictive maintenance.
- Strong understanding of RCA, FMEA, MTBF, MTTR and condition-based maintenance.
- Knowledge of PTW and LOTO systems.
- Exposure to IATF, EMS and EHS requirements.
