Job summary

Unichem Laboratories in Mumbai seeks an experienced IT Infrastructure & Automation Manager to design, deploy, and maintain secure cloud and on-premise infrastructure supporting SAP and manufacturing systems.

You will lead cross-functional teams, ensure regulatory compliance, manage DR plans, and drive modernization of OT and IT networks across the plant.

This role demands strong leadership, problem-solving, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced pharma environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and scale secure cloud, server, and storage infrastructure for high availability and disaster recovery.
  • Manage data centres and networks, ensuring SAP integration with IT infrastructure.
  • Enforce cybersecurity policies, monitor vulnerabilities, and conduct audits.
  • Oversee factory IT, including virtual servers, Wi‑Fi, Active Directory, backups, and end-user devices.
  • Coordinate lifecycle upgrades, patching, documentation, and escalate complex incidents to L3 teams.
  • Provide first-level OT support for PLC, SCADA, HMI, and MES during production outages and liaise with vendors.
  • Support modernization initiatives, system migrations, and automation software upgrades.
  • SLA management with external service providers and vendors; ensure service delivery.
  • Produce executive updates and maintain architecture logs and disaster recovery blueprints.

Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES
IT Infrastructure Management
  • Leadership: Design, build, and scale secure cloud, server, and storage infrastructure for high availability and disaster recovery.
  • Network: Manage data centres and networks, ensuring seamless integration between SAP systems and IT infrastructure.
  • Security & Compliance: Enforce cybersecurity policies, monitor vulnerabilities, and conduct cost and performance audits.
  • Plant Operations: Oversee factory IT including virtual servers, Wi‑Fi, Active Directory, backups, and endpoint workstations.
  • Maintenance: Coordinate lifecycle upgrades, patching, system documentation, and elevate complex incidents to central L3 teams.
Automation Management
  • OT Support: Provide first‑level troubleshooting for PLC, SCADA, HMI, and MES systems during production outages.
  • Coordination: Function as the primary liaison between Automation Engineering, Plant IT, Corporate IT, and OEM vendors.
  • System Safety: Maintain configuration backups for automation programs, monitor OT network health, and assist in commissioning new lines.
  • Lifecycle: Support modernization initiatives, system migrations, and automation software upgrades.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management:
  • SLA Performance: Manage relationships with external service providers and third‑party IT/automation vendors to ensure service delivery.
Reporting & Documentation:
  • Executive Updates: Brief senior leadership regularly on SAP performance and infrastructure project status.
  • Architecture Logs: Maintain updated network diagrams, system configurations, and disaster recovery blueprints.

DESIRED SKILLS
  • Strong experience in IT infrastructure & Automation management.
  • Experience of working in pharma company with deep understanding of pharma manufacturing processes and regulatory compliance to ensure smooth functioning of systems and timely troubleshooting
  • Strong experience in managing virtual infrastructure, enterprise storage, active Directory, and endpoint workstations.
  • Deploying and securing data centers, internal networks, plant Wi‑Fi, and firewalls.
  • Strategic and analytical thinking with strong problem‑solving ability.
  • Leadership, team‑management, and stakeholder‑management experience in complex implementation programs.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a challenging environment.
