Job summary

Job description

Purpose/Objective
  • Lead - MEPF is responsible for overseeing operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety systems across the airport facility.
  • This role ensures that all MEPF activities adhere to quality, safety, and regulatory standards while aligning with project timelines and budgets.
  • The Lead provides strategic direction to the MEPF team, fosters cross-functional collaboration, and maintains alignment with stakeholders.
  • Ultimately, the Lead - MEPF is dedicated to delivering high-performance, compliant MEPF systems ensuring that all MEPF systems are maintained in optimal working conditions, minimizing downtime, and ensuring compliance with safety standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities of Role
  • Maintenance Scheduling & Planning: Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for MEPF systems to ensure minimal disruption to airport operations.
  • Coordinate with other departments to prioritize maintenance activities, ensuring that critical systems receive immediate attention when necessary.
  • Plan for shutdowns or system upgrades while minimizing downtime during peak airport operations.
  • Troubleshooting & Diagnostics Take a hands‑on approach to troubleshooting and resolving complex MEPF system malfunctions or failures, ensuring rapid response to minimize system downtime.
  • Use diagnostic tools and equipment to pinpoint issues, developing long‑term solutions to prevent recurrence of common problems.
  • Budgeting and Cost Control: Prepare and manage budgets for MEPF maintenance operations, ensuring that all activities are conducted within allocated budgets while maintaining high standards.
  • Identify cost‑saving opportunities through efficient maintenance practices, vendor negotiations, and resource optimization.
  • Safety Management: Establish, communicate, and enforce stringent safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment and ensure that all team members and contractors adhere to industry safety standards and regulatory requirements throughout the project.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings, training sessions, and site inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards, and respond promptly to safety incidents, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence and maintaining a strong safety culture within the team.
  • Ensure all MEPF systems comply with local, regional, and international regulations, including fire safety codes, electrical safety standards, and environmental guidelines.
  • Quality Control: Develop and implement comprehensive quality control processes to maintain high standards across all phases of MEPF maintenance in accordance with relevant codes, project specifications, and best practices.
  • Perform regular site inspections, reviewing installed systems to verify compliance with quality standards and document findings and communicate any discrepancies to the team, ensuring prompt corrective actions to maintain the integrity of MEPF systems.
  • Vendor and Contractor Management: Manage relationships with external contractors and suppliers for specialized MEPF work, ensuring they meet quality, cost, and safety standards.
  • Review and assess vendor performance, ensuring they adhere to the terms of their contracts and deliver work in a timely manner.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Lead and manage a team of MEPF engineers and technicians, ensuring they are clear on responsibilities for each project and facilitate effective communication, setting clear expectations and encouraging collaboration to achieve project milestones.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve team policies, procedures, and performance standards, and regularly evaluate team members, provide constructive feedback, and support their professional growth through training and mentorship.
  • Energy Conservation Initiatives: Lead energy conservation initiatives by identifying areas of inefficiency within the HVAC systems and implementing industry best practices for energy saving and collaborate with the team to set and meet energy reduction goals, such as optimizing chiller setpoints and monitoring energy performance metrics.
  • Conduct periodic energy audits and assessments to identify patterns of excessive energy usage and implement improvements that promote more sustainable operation, such as advanced controls, automation, or use of alternative energy sources where feasible.
  • Purchasing and Inventory Control: Manage the inventory levels for HVAC parts, tools, and equipment to balance availability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Work closely with procurement to ensure that critical parts are stocked without overloading inventory, reducing holding costs while maintaining availability for emergency repairs.
  • Establish strong vendor relationships by coordinating regular purchase order follow-ups to ensure timely delivery of supplies and regularly evaluate vendor performance and negotiate terms to secure cost‑effective, high‑quality parts for HVAC system maintenance.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Coordinate closely with contractors, engineers, architects, and project managers to ensure that MEPF installations align with overall project timelines and milestones and facilitate open communication to resolve any conflicts or issues that may arise during construction.
  • Engage with stakeholders to address design or construction-related issues, ensuring technical queries are resolved promptly.
  • Maintain alignment between MEPF systems and broader project requirements, enabling seamless integration and a successful project outcome.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Educational Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering discipline
  • Work Experience: - 10+ years of experience in maintaining MEPF systems, with hands‑on experience in troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Previous experience in an airport, large commercial facilities, or industrial buildings is preferred.
  • Understanding of MEPF systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety) and their importance in large-scale facilities.
