Responsibilities

• Develops short term and long term Tooling strategy in line with the production plan.
• Plans optimal resource utilization to improve efficiency and reduce tooling costs.
• Prepares tooling budget covering design, production and maintenance costs.
• Monitors budget utilization and variance; proposes corrective actions.
• Forms end-to-end tool planning, design and maintenance framework.
• Oversees tooling requirements plan per production, consumption and inventory.
• Reviews progress of tooling requirements to meet schedule.
• Ensures trials to simulate production conditions for tool clearance.
• Maintains tools to reduce breakdowns and rejects.
• Coordinates tooling with maintenance for preventive schedules.

Job Description Job Details Job Code Position Title Manager/ Sr. Manager Division Department Tool Room Grade Reporting To General Manager Number of reportees Job Purpose Responsible for leading the Tooling function and effectively coordinating with the Order Fulfilment, Production Design, Planning, Production and Maintenance team of the steel SBU.

Primary Responsibilities

• Develops the short term and long-term Tooling strategy for the organization/ SBU/ plant in line with the overall production plan
• Provides plan for optimal utilization of resources to SBU Head, improving process efficiencies and reducing the total cost with respect to tool design and manufacturing
• Prepares the budget for the Tooling function which includes the designing, production and maintenance cost estimate for the tools
• Monitors the budget utilization and analyse variance, provide recommendations for corrective actions to SBU Heads/ Plant Heads
• Formulates end to end tool planning, designing, and maintenance framework for all the tools being used in the production environment
• Oversees the preparation of the plan for tools requirements as per production plan, consumption pattern and tool inventory.
• Reviews and monitors the progress of the tooling requirements to ensure that the schedule is met
• Ensures trials are undertaken to simulate actual production conditions for final clearance of the tools
• Ensures that the used and old tools are disassembled, cleaned, polished and repaired to reduce breakdown and wear and tear to prevent production rejects
• Ensures tooling team works closely with the Steel SBU Maintenance teams for formulation of preventive maintenance schedule for the tools
