Job summary

IndiGo is seeking an experienced Corporate/Transactional Lawyer with 10–12 years of post-qualification experience for its in-house legal team in Gurgaon. The role requires drafting and negotiating diverse commercial contracts, including digital/IT, financing, leasing, and procurement, while aligning with business objectives.

You will provide strategic advice to senior leadership, manage end-to-end transactions, and coordinate with internal stakeholders across departments.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate a broad range of commercial contracts and transactions.
• Provide strategic legal counsel to senior leadership and business units on transactional matters and risk assessment.
• Coordinate transactions from inception to closing, ensuring timely execution and alignment with business goals.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders across procurement, finance, operations and commercial teams.
• Monitor regulatory developments and ensure ongoing compliance for new business initiatives.
• Engage external counsel when opinions or advice on transactions are required.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating on a broad range of complex global and domestic commercial contracts/transactions across a range of business including digital/IT contracts, financing and leasing agreements, loan documentation, procurement contracts etc.
• Provide strategic legal counsel to senior leadership and business units on transactional matters, risk assessment, and commercial decision-making.
• Manage and coordinate complex transactions from inception to closing, ensuring timely execution and alignment with business objectives.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders across departments, including procurement, finance, operations, and commercial teams.
• Support business on new business initiatives keeping in view the legal and regulatory requirements and business needs.
• Occasionally work with external lawyers for procuring opinions and/or for obtaining advice on transactions
• Good understanding of legal and regulatory landscape and continuous upkeep with changes in law which are relevant to the organization.

Qualification

• Law degree (LL.B. / LL.M.) from a reputed university
• 10–12 years of post-qualification experience in transactional law, with significant experience at a reputable law firm and/or in-house legal department.
• Demonstrated expertise in drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts across multiple transaction types.
• Strong business acumen with the ability to understand commercial objectives and translate them into practical legal solutions.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with a proven ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex legal concepts clearly to non-legal audiences.
