Job summary

Sandhar Technologies in India is seeking an experienced NPD Project Leader for sheet metal automotive components. You will plan, coordinate and execute New Product Development activities, review customer requirements, drawings, specifications and ECNs for new and existing products, and ensure PPAP/APQP deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Review customer requirements, drawings, specifications, and ECNs for new projects and existing products.
• Conduct feasibility studies for new products considering capability, quality, cost, and delivery.
• Coordinate with customers to clarify drawing, design, and technical issues during development.
• Lead NPD activities per APQP and customer standards.
• Plan and monitor project timelines to ensure successful product development and launch.
• Coordinate prototype and sample development activities and obtain customer approvals (PPAP/APQP).
• Arrange and support Customer QAV for new products and ECN implementation.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth project execution.
• Monitor trial production, process validation, and product qualification activities.
• Ensure ECN implementation and maintain related documentation.
• Facilitate customer communication regarding status, technical concerns, and approvals.
• Support process handover to manufacturing after customer approval and validation.
• Ensure smooth transition from development to mass production without issues.
• Track milestones, risks, and corrective actions to achieve on-time completion.
• Maintain APQP, PPAP, and project documentation as per requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to product development, quality, cost, and manufacturability.

The position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing New Product Development (NPD) activities for Sheet Metal components in the automotive industry.

• Review customer requirements, drawings, specifications, and engineering changes (ECNs) for new projects and existing products.
• Conduct feasibility studies for new products considering manufacturing capability, quality requirements, cost, and delivery expectations.
• Coordinate with customers to clarify drawing, design, and technical issues during the product development stage.
• Lead New Product Development activities in accordance with APQP requirements and customer-specific standards.
• Plan and monitor project timelines to ensure successful product development and launch.
• Coordinate prototype and sample development activities and obtain customer approvals (PPAP/APQP deliverables).
• Arrange and support Customer QAV (Quality Assurance Visit) for new products and engineering change implementation.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams including Design, Tooling, Production, Quality, Purchase, and PPC to ensure smooth project execution.
• Monitor trial production, process validation, and product qualification activities.

Key Skills Required

• Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plan, MSA, and SPC.
• Ability to interpret automotive customer drawings and GD&T requirements.
• Experience in Sheet Metal component development and manufacturing processes.
• Understanding of customer ECN implementation and change management.
• Strong project management and customer coordination skills.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD/SolidWorks/CATIA or similar CAD software (preferred).
• Knowledge of automotive quality systems such as IATF 16949.
