Responsibilities:
Key Role Expectations
1. Project Execution
- Execute assigned NPD projects as per defined timelines (APQP / project plan).
- Coordinate prototype development, validation, and testing with Vendor, R&D and Program Management team.
- Track daily/weekly progress and escalat
- Draft accurate RFQs with feasibility, commercial and tooling confirmations.
2. Design & Engineering Support
- Assist in design activities (CAD modelling, drawings, BOM creation).
- Support DFMEA, DVP&R, and technical documentation.
- Ensure design compliance with customer specifications and internal standards.
- Conduct the required feasibility tests for existing suppliers regarding the ability to supply the required parts for new designs.
3. Cross-functional Coordination
- Liaise with Manufacturing, Quality, Purchase, and Supplier teams.
- Ensure smooth transition from development to pilot production.
- Participate in customer discussions and internal reviews.
- Coordinate with the plant NPD team for follow ups with newly identified vendors for procurement of parts.
4. Testing & Validation
- Coordinate lab/field testing for product validation.
- Ensure data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Support issue resolution during validation phases.
- Work with the plant NPD team members to ensure testing of parts and sending the same to the customer for validations.
- Coordinate with the plant Production team to complete all required line trials on time and send the same to the respective customers for validation.
5. Cost & Value Engineering
- Assist in cost estimation and cost reduction initiatives.
- Work on alternative materials or designs to optimize cost/performance.
- Study the new designs provided by the R&D Design team as well as the Bill of Materials and understand the requirements.
- Perform accurate Zero-based costing as well as drawing of comparisons between quotes received to be shared with Commodity Managers.
6. Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain complete project documentation (PPAP, APQP docs).
- Ensure adherence to automotive standards (IATF 16949, ISO).
7. Continuous Improvement
- Identify improvement opportunities in product design/process.
- Support localization and indigenization initiatives.
