Job summary

Sansera Engineering Limited in Bengaluru is seeking a heat treatment engineer to lead process control across carburizing, quenching, tempering and related operations, ensuring adherence to metallurgical standards.

You will analyze properties, troubleshoot defects, coordinate with production, quality and design teams, drive validations, monitor furnace performance, maintain SOPs and train junior engineers while upholding safety and quality practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in metallurgical or mechanical engineering; Master’s preferred.
• 3-6 years of experience in heat treatment operations and metallurgical analysis.
• Strong knowledge of heat treatment processes and metallurgy.
• Familiarity with CQI-9, AMS, ASTM standards; experience with failure analysis.

Responsibilities

• Oversee heat treatment processes (carburizing, quenching, tempering, annealing, normalizing) and ensure parameter adherence.
• Analyze metallurgical properties and recommend process improvements.
• Troubleshoot defects: distortion, cracking, hardness variation, microstructural issues.
• Coordinate with production, quality, and design teams to meet product requirements.
• Lead process validation and qualification activities; monitor furnace performance and maintenance.
• Maintain SOPs and process records; support internal/external audits.
• Train and guide junior engineers and operators; drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Job description

• Heat treatment processes (carburizing, quenching, tempering, annealing, normalizing, etc.).
• Ensure adherence to process parameters and metallurgical standards.
• Analyze metallurgical properties and recommend process improvements.
• Troubleshoot heat treatment defects such as distortion, cracking, hardness variation, and microstructural issues.
• Coordinate with production, quality, and design teams to meet product requirements.
• Lead process validation and qualification activities.
• Monitor furnace performance, calibration, and maintenance schedules.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards (e.g., ISO, CQI-9 where applicable).
• Maintain process documentation, SOPs, and records.
• Train and guide junior engineers and operators.
• Support audits (internal/external) and implement corrective actions.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives (cost, quality, cycle time)

• Stop production in case of non-conformance or safety risk.
• Recommend equipment upgrades and process improvements.

JOB SPECIFICATION / COMPETENCY

Educational Qualification:

Experience:
