Job summary

AM Green Ammonia in Hyderabad, India, seeks a QAQC Metallurgy Engineer to oversee quality of metallurgical operations across projects, ensuring compliance with ASME, API codes and client specifications.

You will lead inspections, develop QA/QC procedures, witness testing, document findings, and collaborate with design, procurement and construction teams to drive quality and safety throughout fabrication and commissioning.

Qualifications

Role QAQC Metallurgy Engineer
Location Hyderabad, India

Position Summary

The QA QC Metallurgy Engineer is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality and integrity of metallurgical operations on projects, ensuring that all metallurgical processes, materials, and equipment comply with project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements as per codes ASME Sec‑IX, Sec A/B/C/D, Sec‑VIII Div 1 &2, API‑620, and API‑650 etc. This role involves reviewing metallurgical procedures, performing inspections, and ensuring that metallurgical work meets the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance throughout the production, construction, and maintenance phases. Should have sound knowledge and familiarity with a wide range of engineering and metallurgical materials.

Key Responsibilities

• Quality Assurance & Control
  • Develop and implement quality assurance (QAPs), WPS and control procedures, and witnessing the material testing at metallurgical laboratories.
  • Ensure that all works are carried out according to industry standards, project specifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct inspections and audits of materials to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Monitor and assess the quality of materials in mechanical systems.
  • Support investigation and root‑cause analysis of weld defects, material‑related non‑conformances, and welding failures, and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
• Testing and Inspections
  • Perform regular inspections and tests on components materials.
  • Identify and document defects or non‑conformance issues, working with relevant teams to resolve them.
  • Ensure materials undergo corrosion, material and mechanical inspection, material performance and reliability check.
  • Witness and review mechanical and metallurgical testing, including tensile, bend, impact, hardness, macro/micro examination, and other applicable tests.
• Documentation and Reporting
  • Prepare detailed reports on inspection findings, test results, and corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, audits, and test results.
  • Ensure all quality documentation is up to date and accessible for review by internal and external parties.
  • Ensure that all non‑conformance reports (NCRs) are properly tracked and resolved.
• Collaboration and Coordination
  • Work closely with design, engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure quality standards are met throughout all phases of a project.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and suppliers to ensure materials and equipment meet quality standards.
  • Provide support during audits, site visits, and inspections by regulatory bodies.
  • Liaise with engineering and construction teams to resolve quality‑related issues, technical queries, and inspection hold points in a timely manner.
• Continuous Improvement
  • Propose and implement continuous improvement initiatives for quality assurance processes in metallurgical engineering.
  • Keep up to date with new industry standards, regulations, and quality tools.
• Safety and Compliance
  • Ensure all metallurgical activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Conduct safety audits and ensure adherence to safety protocols during inspections and testing activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in metallurgical engineering, mechanical engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience in quality assurance and quality control in metallurgical engineering.
• Knowledge of material testing, inspecting, testing of all equipment of piping, structural for all chemical and mechanical properties.
• Familiarity with industry standards such as ASME, API, Indian, International, and other relevant codes.
• Strong understanding of testing and inspection methods for metallurgy.
• Proficiency in using QA/QC software and tools.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
• Should have sound knowledge and familiarity with a wide range of engineering and metallurgical materials.
• metallurgist who has a good understanding of weld metallurgy and metallurgical aspects of welding for example a weld metal and HAZ characteristics, material compatibility, heat treatment, weldability, welding‑related defects, failure mechanisms, and their metallurgical implications.

Desired Skills

• Certification in quality control (e.g., Six Sigma, ISO 9001, CSWIP 3.1 etc).
• Experience with metallurgical testing.
• Familiarity with project management and scheduling software.
• Strong experience in Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC), preferably with relevant experience in refineries, petrochemical industries

Work Environment

• This position may involve working on‑site at construction or manufacturing locations and may require occasional travel.
