Job summary

A-SQUARE MEP CONSULTANTS is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer with 3–6 years of experience in Electrical MEP design consultancy. The candidate will design electrical systems, prepare calculations and drawings, develop BOQs, and coordinate from concept to IFC across residential, commercial, hospitality, institutional, and industrial projects in Bengaluru.

Responsibilities include LV distribution design, SLDs, cable scheduling, lighting design with DIALux/AGi32, and BIM coordination.

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering is mandatory.
• 3–6 years of relevant experience in Electrical MEP Design Consultancy.
• Experience in building electrical design projects across sectors (residential, commercial, hospitality, institutional, industrial).
• Consultancy design experience preferred over site-only or execution-focused experience.

Responsibilities

• Design LV power distribution systems (230V/400V) and prepare SLDs.
• Develop power, lighting, small power, and lighting looping layouts.
• Prepare cable tray routing, cable schedules, panel schedules, load schedules, riser diagrams, and shaft coordination drawings.
• Design earthing and lightning protection systems per standards.
• Plan electrical systems for transformers, DG sets, UPS, ATS panels, and emergency power supply.
• Prepare coordinated electrical design drawings from concept to IFC stage.
• Perform connected load, demand load, diversity factor, and power factor calculations.
• Calculate transformer and DG capacities, cable sizes, voltage drop, and short-circuit levels.
• Select appropriate circuit breakers and protection devices.
• Ensure compliance with NBC, IS, IEC, and other standards.
• Prepare interior, exterior, landscape, and emergency lighting layouts.
• Perform lux level calculations and lighting simulations using DIALux or AGi32.
• Recommend energy-efficient lighting solutions per ECBC provisions.
• Prepare electrical BOQs, quantity take-offs, and material schedules.
• Develop technical specifications for cables, panels, luminaires, and electrical equipment.
• Support vendor evaluations, material reviews, and value engineering.

Job description

We are looking for a technically proficient and detail-oriented Electrical Design Engineer with 3–6 years of experience in Electrical MEP Design Consultancy. The candidate will be responsible for electrical system design, engineering calculations, drawing preparation, BOQ development, and coordination from concept design to Issued for Construction (IFC) stage across residential, commercial, hospitality, institutional, and industrial projects.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Electrical Design & Engineering

• Design LV power distribution systems (230V/400V) and prepare Single Line Diagrams (SLDs).
• Develop power, lighting, small power, and lighting looping layouts.
• Prepare cable tray routing, cable schedules, panel schedules, load schedules, riser diagrams, and shaft coordination drawings.
• Design earthing and lightning protection systems in accordance with applicable standards.
• Plan electrical systems for transformers, DG sets, UPS, ATS panels, and emergency power supply.
• Prepare coordinated electrical design drawings from concept to IFC stage.

B. Engineering Calculations

• Perform connected load, demand load, diversity factor, and power factor calculations.
• Calculate transformer and DG capacities, cable sizes, voltage drop, and short-circuit levels.
• Select appropriate circuit breakers and protection devices based on design requirements.
• Ensure compliance with applicable NBC, IS, IEC, and other relevant standards.
• Prepare interior, exterior, landscape, and emergency lighting layouts.
• Perform lux level calculations and lighting simulations using DIALux or AGi32.
• Recommend energy-efficient lighting solutions in line with project requirements and applicable ECBC provisions.

D. BOQ & Technical Documentation

• Prepare electrical BOQs, quantity take-offs, and material schedules from design drawings.
• Develop technical specifications for cables, panels, luminaires, and electrical equipment.
• Support vendor technical evaluations, material reviews, and value engineering for cost optimization.

E. Coordination & Project Delivery

• Coordinate with architectural, HVAC, plumbing, and fire-fighting teams to resolve design interfaces.
• Support BIM coordination and clash detection using Revit MEP models.
• Assist with client technical clarifications and multidisciplinary design reviews.
• Manage assigned deliverables, maintain drawing quality, and meet project submission deadlines.

3. Educational Qualification & Experience

• B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical Engineering is mandatory.
• 3–6 years of relevant experience in Electrical MEP Design Consultancy.
• Experience in building electrical design projects across one or more sectors, such as residential, commercial, hospitality, institutional, or industrial.
• Consultancy design experience is preferred over site-only or execution-focused experience.

4. Mandatory Technical Skills

• AutoCAD: Electrical drafting, layouts, and detailed design drawings.
• Revit MEP: Electrical modeling, circuiting, scheduling, and coordination.
• DIALux / AGi32: Lighting design and lux level calculations.
• MS Excel: Engineering calculations, load schedules, and BOQ preparation.
• Strong understanding of LV power distribution, cable sizing, voltage drop, protection devices, earthing, and lighting design.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in engineering calculations.
• Good technical documentation and drawing standards.
• Effective coordination and communication skills.
• Ability to manage priorities and deliver projects within deadlines.
