Designation - Sr. Design Engineer
Roles & Responsibilities-
- Understand and analyze plastic product design requirements of customers for automotive body components.
- Make presentations of available data and provide inputs to the Supervisor.
- Prepare DFMEA and DVP and identify actions to mitigate failures.
- Generate concept designs and evaluate robust concepts that add value to the product.
- Create 3D CAD models and perform assembly simulation and kinematics as per the guidelines provided by the Principal Design Engineer.
- Maintain the quality of data as per ITW standards/requirements.
- Attend customer meetings during the design and product development phase for clarification of DVP requirements.
- Generate 2D drawings and 3D annotations as per ITW standards, apply GD&T, and calculate tolerance stack-up.
- Maintain the log of engineering changes and update all Bill of Materials (BOMs) for product designs.
- Provide inputs during product design and post-product-development phases for product performance improvement, value engineering, and value creation.
- Participate in the Individual Development Plan (IDP) for personal and professional growth.
Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
- Speed of product design and 3D model creation.
- Accuracy of product design from manufacturing processes.
- 100% compliance with customer design quality requirements.
- Maintaining all designs, drawings, and documents in proper order.
- Preparing 2D drawings as per ITW standards and customer requirements.
- Conceptualizing and designing jigs and fixtures.
- Improving previous designs as part of the continuous improvement process.
- Supporting testing and validation of parts during development.

Primary Functional Requirements -
- Proficient in CATIA V5 – solid modelling, surfacing, drafting and 3D annotation.
- Should be ready to work with his/her own hands.
- Qualification: Diploma in Tool & Die Making from institutes such as NTTF, GTTC, IGTR & CIPET, or BE Mechanical along with Post Graduation in Tool Design.
- Hands‑on experience in new plastic product designing with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the automotive domain.
Secondary Requirements -
- Knowledge of GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Knowledge of DFMEA, DVP, APQP and ISO-TSO 16949 procedures and documentation.
- One or two years of tool room experience.
- Exposure to plastics processing/manufacturing and assembly procedures.
Other Requirements -
- Should be willing to travel domestically as well as internationally.
- Foreign language skills preferred.
- Experience in PLM / Teamcenter and knowledge of automotive standards.
- Knowledge of automation, gauges and fixture design.
