Job summary

Expleo in Chennai seeks an experienced BIW engineer to drive programs from concept to launch, focusing on quality, cost and timely delivery. You will work with cross-functional teams and suppliers to ensure design robustness and manufacturability using UG NX/CATIA.

Responsibilities include coordinating tooling release, Sourcing Packages, engineering documentation, and DFMEA/PPAP activities, while leading the BIW domain from concept through launch across multiple builds.

Qualifications

• Education: B.E. / B. Tech. / M. E / M. Tech – Mechanical / Automotive / Electrical engineering.
• Experience: 6 to 8 years of relevant experience with CAD design experience – UG NX / CATIA.

Responsibilities

• To participate in the Program development from Pre–Development to Handing over with focus on Quality, Cost and Delivery targets.
• Ensure technical feasibility, design robustness, manufacturability and documentation in coordination with engineering and suppliers.
• Identify critical issues and actions to meet targets; ensure Sourcing Packages are complete for sourcing start-up.
• Conduct Supplier Technical Reviews and provide engineering support during tooling release and builds.
• Coordinate validation plans and problem solving at the assembly plant from pilot phase through launch.

Overview

BIW : Pune (3 - UGNX) Chennai ( 1- CATIA)

Responsibilities

• To participate in the Program development right from the Pre –Development to Handing over of relevant systems/components for the completeness of the product and for the launch, with focus on Quality, Cost and Delivery targets
• To ensure (supported by the specialist Functions) the technical feasibility, design robustness, component manufacturability and the compliance of technical documentation, through the coordination of engineering (if necessary) and product suppliers.
• To point out the critical issues or any infringements of Design/Test Standards and identify the actions needed to respect the assigned targets
• To ensure the completeness/availability of all documents necessary for sourcing start-up (Sourcing Package) and to keep them up to date and consistent with sourcing closing.
• Conduct Supplier Technical Reviews and evaluation to support Purchase decisions
• To ensure the completeness/availability of all documents necessary for tooling release.
• To carry out / to ensure, with the help of specialist Functions, the diagnostic activities on the relevant systems/components.
• Ensure availability of Parts and Systems for the various builds viz., Pre-build, OTOP build, Pre-Launch and Launch/SOP, at right quality and time, by working with cross functional teams
• Provide engineering support in problem solving activities at the assembly plant from pilot phase through launch / post launch
• To work with Project Responsible and Test Plan Manager of each test departments, to finalise the technical validation plan of the systems assigned, by reducing the test loops.

• Review with PR, the test results and carryout issue resolution according to the model time line.
• To provide engineering support in problem solving activities at the assembly plant from pilot phase through launch

Task / Deliverables

Supported by the Engineering Functions and the SSTL, depending on the specific area of application can be responsible:

• To manage Project deliverables within his/her area.
• To manage codesign Suppliers Project deliverables within his/her area, supported by the Engineering Functions and the SSTL, responsible for Quality convergence process (e.g., APQP grid).
• To ensure the correct and efficient information flow and reporting during the project development phase to SSTL.
• To participate to any hand-over phase, if present, and to the definition with Engineering functions for relevant components/systems, technical solutions and corresponding performance, timing and cost targets (using the appropriate systems).
• To ensure the completeness/availability of all engineering documents necessary for sourcing (Sourcing Packages) on time to support Project deliverables.
• To ensure the technical feasibility, the design robustness, the component manufacturability and the compliance of technical documentation, through the coordination of engineering (if necessary) and product suppliers.
• To point out the critical issues or any infringements of Design/Test Standards and identify the actions needed to respect the assigned targets.
• To manage the design FMEAs execution performing the risk assessment and to provide support during process FMEAs execution.To make available the documentation necessary to implement technical modifications (e.g. ODMs/CCD/CNs/ECR), to request their economic evaluations, to support the SSTL during the approval phase and to guarantee the associated drawings release. To monitor, through the accountable departments, their application in production according to the time schedule and procedures provided.
• To ensure the completeness/availability of all documents necessary for tooling release (TKO) and software release and validation
• To ensure the release of the product structure for Mules (and PWB plywood buck if requested) ensuring the Part Delivery
• To carry out/to ensure the diagnostic activities on the relevant systems/components and to provide engineering support in problem solving activities at the assembly plant (PER/VLO etc.) from pilot phase through launch, when requested.
• Own technical validation plans for ED (Engineering Design), DV (Design Validation) and PV (Process Validation) testing, ensuring they are completed on time, resolving, and escalating non compliances and providing info to PMO support team.
• In case of a maintenance model assignment, all the above-mentioned activities will be aimed to manage life cycle upgrades (i.e. MCA, Facelift), cost reductions and quality improvement
