Job summary

ALTEN India in Chennai is seeking an experienced mechanical design engineer with 8 years in automotive component design using CATIA. You will create detailed 2D/3D models, generate BOMs, and prepare manufacturing documentation to support cost-effective production.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, perform GD&T and tolerance studies, coordinate with suppliers, and participate in design reviews to improve reliability, performance, and manufacturability.

Qualifications

• 8 years of experience in automotive component design and CATIA usage.
• Experience with 2D/3D modeling for automotive components and systems.
• Knowledge of PLM Enovia for drawing release activities.
• Experience with engineering change orders.
• Ability to perform GD&T and tolerance analyses.

• 8 years of experience in automotive component design with the support of CATIA software.
• Utilize CAD software (CATIA V5/V6) to create detailed 2D and 3D models of mechanical components and systems for automotive applications.
• Collaborate with cross functional team to understand design requirements and specifications.
• Good knowledge in PLM (Dassault System Enovia) for drawing release activities.
• Knowledge on Engineering change order and requests.
• Develop innovative design solutions that meet performance, reliability, and cost targets while adhering to project timelines.
• Conduct feasibility studies and analysis to evaluate design concepts, identify potential risks, and propose mitigation strategies.
• Perform tolerance analysis and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) to ensure proper fit, form, and function of components.
• Generate detailed engineering drawings, bill of materials (BOM), and other technical documentation to support manufacturing and assembly processes.
• Work closely with manufacturing engineers and suppliers to ensure that designs are manufacturable and cost-effective.
