Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a counsellor to deliver telephonic and video counselling sessions, assess risk, monitor progress and adapt treatment plans in Bengaluru. You will maintain accurate case documentation and communicate clearly with clients, families and professionals.

  • Communicate effectively with clients, families and professionals
  • Participate in mandatory training and ongoing professional development
  • Ensure confidentiality and compliance with ethical and legal standards
  • Stay updated on regulatory and legislative changes relevant to the role
  • Contribute to team meetings and collaborative initiatives
  • Take initiative to handle additional responsibilities as needed

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Deliver telephonic and virtual counselling sessions, offering immediate, solution-focused support to a diverse client base
  • Conduct risk assessments and intervene appropriately based on client needs
  • Monitor client progress, adapt treatment plans, and provide consistent support and motivation
  • Maintain accurate and timely case documentation in accordance with clinical policies
  • Communicate effectively with clients, families, and professionals using solid verbal and written communication skills
  • Participate in mandatory training modules and ongoing professional development
  • Ensure strict confidentiality and compliance with ethical and legal standards
  • Stay informed on regulatory and legislative updates relevant to the role
  • Actively contribute to team meetings and collaborative initiatives
  • Demonstrate initiative by taking on additional responsibilities as needed
  • Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). Required Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated solid clinical judgment and a deep understanding of confidentiality and ethical responsibilities
  • Demonstrated excellent communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated high levels of cultural competence, professionalism, and emotional resilience
  • Demonstrated effective time management and organizational abilities
  • Demonstrated commitment to self-care and maintaining personal well-being in a demanding role
  • Fluency in English
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master''s degree in clinical or counselling psychology
  • 3+ years of experience in counselling or therapy
  • Experience in telephone/video counselling
  • Background in Employee Assistance Programs (EAP)
  • Multilingual abilities
