Qualifications

Thirdspace Architecture Studio is an award-winning architectural practice with the work spanning over diverse typologies - ranging from residential, mixed-use, institutional to public and sports and recreation.We are seeking a highly passionate, articulate, and technically accomplished Senior Architect with 8 to 10 years of experience to join our studio leadership. The ideal candidate should exhibit an unwavering passion for design, solving technical and contextual challenges, and possess the technical capability to translate nuanced architectural concepts into built reality.They should have good interpersonal and communication skills and should be able to mentor and lead a team of architects on time bound projects.A good knowledge of softwares is a prerequisite. Precision in drafting techniques and high level of proficiency in 2D and 3D drafting softwares. They should also have a disciplined approach towards data management and organisation.The position is for a long-term association that is mutually beneficial.

We are seeking a highly creative and technically skilled Senior Architect to join our practice. As a key leader in our studio, they will oversee projects from conceptual design through construction documentation, maintaining the design integrity and spatial rigor that defines our practice, ensuring that our commitment to design excellence is maintained across all phases. The ideal candidate should possess a strong design ethos, manage project teams, mentor junior and mid-level architects, manage client and stakeholder relationships, and actively contribute to maintaining our studio's industry-leading reputation. The candidate should have worked on projects ranging from high-rise housing developments to large scale institutional projects. They should have experience in coordinating with services consultants on complex projects. They should have a good command on planning as well as on technical aspects of building construction and services. They should also have a disciplined approach towards data management and organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Design Leadership & Vision:

• Translate complex project briefs into compelling design narratives, spatial strategies, and architectural expressions that align with the Studio’s vision.
• Lead and develop designs with Principals for clients and stakeholders.
• Ensure spatial, material, and structural concepts are refined into cohesive architectural concepts.

2. Project Delivery & Technical Oversight:

• Drive all project phases: Concept Design (CD), Schematic Design (SD), Design Development (DD), Construction Documentation (CD), and Construction Administration (CA).
• Review technical drawings for details to guarantee technical precision.
• Direct workflow execution to ensure drawing sets conform to Studio’s graphic standards and industry protocols.
• Review and approve construction drawings, details and specifications for technical and design accuracy.
• Conduct site visits and field observations to resolve technical challenges and ensure construction conforms with the design intent.
• Interface directly with structural, MEP, civil, and specialized consultants to resolve design conflicts and design development and construction documents.
• Conduct client milestone meetings.
• Review construction documents, structural details, material spec sheets, RFIs (Requests for Information), and contractor submittals.
• Perform site visits, as required to verify mock-up quality, resolve unexpected site conditions, and ensure build accuracy.

3. Team & Organizational Structure:

• Function as the primary technical and design contact for clients throughout project lifecycles.
• Manage project staffing, deliverables and different phase deadlines.
• Mentor junior and intermediate architectural staff, fostering a collaborative, design-focused studio culture.
• Participate in design reviews, peer critiques, and internal knowledge-sharing initiatives.
• Conduct regular peer reviews and mentor junior staff on building technology, detailing, and presentation techniques.
• Work in close sync with the Design Principal for artistic direction, schedules/budgets, and external engineering partners (Structural, MEP, Civil, Landscape, Lighting, Acoustic).

4. Project Management & Execution:

• Lead multidisciplinary project teams through schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration.
• Oversee project budgets, schedules, staffing allocations, and scope boundaries to ensure timely execution.

Education:

Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Architecture (M.Arch / B.Arch) from an accredited institution.

Experience:

8-12+ years of work experience, with a portfolio of versatile built work.

Licensure:

Registered / Licensed Architect (COA or equivalent regional professional registration).

Technical Proficiency:

Expert-level proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino, Enscape/V-Ray, and Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign). Experience with Grasshopper or computational workflows is an advantage.

Core Competencies:

Exceptional design vocabulary, deep knowledge of detailing and materiality, strong public presentation skills, and expertise in client management.

Building Knowledge:

Deep understanding of structural systems, construction detailing, building codes, envelope assembly, and sustainable building systems.
