Job summary

World Wide Technology (WWT) is seeking an experienced Solutions Engineer to design and implement Commvault-based data protection and cyber recovery solutions for client environments in India.

You will author Low Level Designs, deploy and validate infrastructure components (CommServe, MediaAgent, storage, deduplication), and ensure robust backup architectures including immutable and air-gapped targets. Strong communication and consulting skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 8+ years with deep hands-on expertise with Commvault architecture (CommServe, MediaAgent, storage policies, deduplication)
• Ability to author Low Level Designs and test documentation suitable for client delivery
• Experience with immutable and air-gapped backup targets including object storage with object lock
• Strong knowledge of VMware, Windows and Linux servers, databases, file shares, M365, and public cloud workloads
• Understanding of ransomware recovery requirements in backup design
• Ability to manage scope, timelines, and resources within fixed-effort engagements
• Excellent communication and engagement skills with non-technical stakeholders
• Proficiency with PowerPoint, Excel, and Visio for design docs and client reporting
• Consulting mindset with strong documentation discipline

Responsibilities

• Authors Low Level Designs for Commvault-based data protection and cyber recovery solutions.
• Executes the build phase: CommServe, MediaAgent, storage pool, deduplication, client agent deployment.
• Designs and executes test plans including functional testing, restore validation, and recovery testing.
• Configures immutability and air-gap protection; validates against ransomware scenarios.
• Implements and tunes Commvault threat scan, anomaly detection, and cleanroom recovery where applicable.
• Produces runbooks and as-built documentation; conducts knowledge transfer sessions.
• Tracks delivery milestones and communicates progress to customer and stakeholders.
• Escalates scope or timeline deviations and ensures contract deliverables are met per SOW.
• Manages project risks, flags variances early, and coordinates dependencies across teams.
• Supports pre-sales scoping and BOM validation for Commvault opportunities; contributes technical proposals.
• Collaborates with project team and partners to bring best of WWT to clients.

What will you be doing?

Responsibilities:

• Authors Low Level Designs for Commvault-based data protection and cyber recovery solutions, translating approved High-Level Designs into build-ready detail.
• Executes the build phase, including CommServe, MediaAgent, storage pool, deduplication, and client agent deployment and configuration.
• Designs and executes test plans, including functional testing, restore and recovery validation, failure scenario testing, and user acceptance support.
• Configures immutability, air gap protection, and hardened storage targets, and validates them against ransomware recovery scenarios.
• Implements and tunes Commvault threat scan, anomaly detection, and cleanroom recovery capability where in scope.
• Produces runbooks, as-built documentation, and operational handover material, and delivers knowledge transfer sessions to client operations teams.
• Ensures delivery milestones are established and tracked, and delivery progress is forecasted and communicated to the customer, team, and stakeholders.
• Communicates and escalates deviations in scope or timeline appropriately and ensures all contract deliverables are met within the timelines specified in the Statement of Work.
• Ensures project risks are identified, tracked, and communicated with the customer on a regular basis, implementing mitigation strategies where possible.
• Serves as a liaison between the delivery team and support teams, coordinates dependencies across multi-team engagements, and removes roadblocks for the team as needed.
• Supports pre‑sales scoping and effort estimation for Commvault opportunities, including bill of materials validation and technical proposal content.
• Works independently and collaboratively with the project team and partners across the enterprise to bring the best of WWT to our clients.

Qualifications:

• Looking for 8+ years with deep hands‑on expertise with Commvault architecture: CommServe, MediaAgents, storage policies, deduplication, indexing, and agent‑level configuration.
• Demonstrated ability to author Low Level Designs and test documentation to a standard that is client‑deliverable without significant rework.
• Practical experience with immutable and air‑gapped backup targets, including object storage with object lock and hardened MediaAgent configurations.
• Strong working knowledge of the protected estate: VMware, Windows and Linux servers, databases, file shares, Microsoft 365, and public cloud workloads.
• Understanding of ransomware recovery requirements and how backup architecture, retention, and isolation are designed to meet them.
• Ability to manage scope, timelines, and resources effectively within a fixed‑effort engagement, and to flag variance early
• Excellent communication and engagement skills; ability to communicate with all levels of management and to present complex concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
• Analytical and critical thinking skills to solve complex business and technical challenges under delivery pressure.
• Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Visio for design documentation and client reporting.
