Responsibilities

  • Analyze technical papers and translate scientific terminology and concepts into lay terms for use in research projects, policy engagement and advocacy.
  • Identify, review, and develop recommendations for non-animal testing methods for use instead of animals through analysis of scientific literature and other data sources.
  • Draft and obtain the necessary data for effective letters, factsheets, white papers, reports, government comments, and other types of correspondence.
  • Work with present complex and potentially controversial information and recommendations, and advocate for non-animal testing in dealings with government agencies, higher learning institutions, public- and private-sector organizations, scientific forums, corporations, media, and advocacy and special-interest groups.
  • Attend and actively advocate for non-animal testing at scientific conferences and with scientists, including academics and policymakers, as needed.

To provide research input relating to Indian animal-testing issues in order to lead advocacy initiatives to support PETA India’s objectives on behalf of animals used in experiments

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Analyze technical papers and translate scientific terminology and concepts into lay terms for use in research projects, policy engagement and advocacy
  • Identify, review, and develop recommendations for non-animal testing methods for use instead of animals through analysis of scientific literature and other data sources
  • Draft and obtain the necessary data for effective letters, factsheets, white papers, reports, government comments, and other types of correspondence
  • Work with present complex and potentially controversial information and recommendations, and advocate for non-animal testing in dealings with government agencies, higher learning institutions, public- and private-sector organizations, scientific forums, corporations, media, and advocacy and special-interest groups
  • Attend and actively advocate for non-animal testing at scientific conferences and with scientists, including academics and policymakers, as needed
  • Research, interpret and advocate to influence animal-protection legislation related to animal testing
  • Answer correspondence regarding animal-testing issues
  • Work with and guide whistleblowers, ensuring strict confidentiality at all times
  • Collaborate with other staffers to research and develop public campaign and marketing materials for non-animal testing and training advocacy
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications:

  • MD, DVM, or PhD in a related field and several years of relevant experience
