Job summary

Shavish Group is seeking an experienced Safety & Compliance Leader for its valve manufacturing operations in Maharashtra, Pune. The role focuses on enforcing safety policies, regulatory adherence, and continuous improvement across maintenance, fabrication, machining, and assembly processes.

You will lead risk assessments, incident investigations, and PTW oversight, while coordinating with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Stores and HR to foster a proactive safety culture.

Qualifications

  • Experience in valve manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of safety management systems and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong incident investigation and corrective action skills.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with safety laws, regulations, and EHS policies.
  • Conduct safety inspections, audits, risk assessments and hazard analyses.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses; implement CAPAs.
  • Manage PTW systems and safe work practices during maintenance and manufacturing activities.
  • Organize safety trainings, toolbox talks, and emergency drills.
  • Ensure PPE, firefighting equipment and emergency systems are ready and maintained.
  • Maintain safety records and audit readiness; document regulatory compliance.
  • Drive continuous safety improvements toward zero accidents.

Job description

Key Responsibilities & Authorities
  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety laws, statutory requirements, and company EHS policies.
  • Conduct safety inspections, audits, risk assessments, and hazard identification activities across manufacturing operations.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; recommend and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Monitor compliance with Permit to Work (PTW) systems and safe work practices during maintenance, fabrication, machining, assembly, testing, painting, and other valve manufacturing activities.
  • Organize safety induction programs, employee training sessions, toolbox talks, awareness campaigns, and emergency mock drills.
  • Ensure availability, inspection, and proper usage of PPE, firefighting equipment, and emergency response systems.
  • Maintain safety records, incident reports, training records, legal registers, and statutory documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with Factory Act requirements and other applicable safety regulations.
  • Support implementation of API Q1 requirements related to risk management, contingency planning, operational controls, and continual improvement.
  • Participate & ensure NIL NC /Concerns in internal audits, customer audits, API audits, certification audits, and regulatory inspections.
  • Coordinate with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Stores, and HR departments to promote a positive safety culture.
  • Monitor contractor safety and ensure compliance with site safety requirements.
  • Conduct workplace environmental monitoring and identify opportunities for risk reduction.
  • Stop any unsafe activity that may endanger personnel, property, product quality, or the environment.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to achieve zero accidents and enhance overall EHS performance.
Accountability
  • Accountable for effective implementation and maintenance of the Safety Management System.
  • Responsible for compliance with statutory, regulatory, customer, API, and company safety requirements.
  • Accountable for reducing workplace accidents, incidents, and occupational hazards.
  • Responsible for timely investigation, reporting, and closure of safety-related corrective and preventive actions.
  • Accountable for maintaining safety documentation, legal compliance records, and audit readiness.
  • Responsible for emergency preparedness, response planning, and crisis management readiness.
  • Accountable for identifying and mitigating risks affecting employee safety, operational continuity, and business performance.
  • Responsible for periodic reporting of safety performance, KPIs, observations, and improvement opportunities to management.
  • Accountable for driving a proactive safety culture throughout the valve manufacturing facility.
