Job summary

JSW Steel in Goa is seeking a Mining Safety Engineer to lead workplace safety programs at the mine premises. You will identify hazards, perform HIRA, and implement risk controls to prevent incidents, while ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.

The role requires a B.Tech/B.E in Mining and DGMS First Class Mine Manager certification, with strong knowledge of safety regulations, incident investigation, and HSE documentation.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Conduct risk identification, hazard analysis, and HIRA to identify potential safety risks.
• Develop and implement safety management systems, including incident investigations and emergency plans.
• Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and industry safety standards.
• Perform regular safety inspections and audits with improvement recommendations.
• Collaborate on JSAs and reviews of work permit systems.
• Prepare annual and monthly Safety Management plans.
• Provide PPE supplies and enforce PPE usage at the mine.
• Implement SOPs, risk assessments, and management directives.
• Monitor PPE implementation to reduce injuries and incidents.
• Initiate corrective/preventive actions for noncompliance and deviations.
• Conduct regular mock drills and hazard analysis for activities.

Job description

Roles and Responsibilities

• Conduct risk identification, hazard analysis, and HIRA to identify potential safety risks in the workplace & Mine Premises.
• Comply statutory and Safety, Health and Environment policy requirements
• Develop and implement effective safety management systems, including incident investigation procedures and emergency response plans.
• Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to industrial safety.
• Perform regular safety inspections and audits to identify areas for improvement and provide recommendations for mitigation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop job safety analyses (JSAs) and conduct work permit system reviews.
• Preparation of the annual and monthly Safety Management plan
• Provide adequate supply of PPEs and other safety items for safe work environment
• Implement SOP, Risk Assessment and Management directives
• Monitor PPE implementation at Mines to reduce incidents/ accidents to reduce injury
• Initiate corrective/ preventive action for any safety noncompliance/ deviations/ violation
• Conduct regular Mock drill safety preparedness during emergency
• Conduct Hazard analysis & risk assessment of each activity
• Analyze Injury rate, Severity rate, frequency rate, LTI & prepare MIS report

Desired Candidate Profile

• B.Tech / B.E. degree in Mining Engineering from a recognized institution & First Class Mine Manager Competency Certificate from DGMS.
• Strong knowledge of safety regulations, safety management systems, accident investigation techniques, HSE documentation practices.
