Job summary

Dalmia Cement seeks an Asst. Manager to oversee open cast limestone mining operations at our Karnataka plant. The role focuses on safety, regulatory compliance, and coordinating mining planning to meet production targets.

The candidate will manage budgets, optimize resource use, and ensure DGMS and PESO norms are followed while liaising with authorities for permissions and audits.

Role & responsibilities

• Responsible to execute the roles and responsibilities of Asst. Manager as per statutory.
• Lead and oversee all mining operations & planning to deliver the productions, quality and ensure safe operation with zero harm.
• Should have an exposure to strengthen and implementations of safety practices to achieve zero harm in mines operation and should able to execute the responsibilities of Safety Officer/Asst. Manager.
• Ensure adherence to all safety protocols, environmental norms, and legal requirements.
• Innovative ideas implementation to achieve the desired KPI and their tracking mechanism
• Supervise HEMM operations, mine development, manpower handling, deployment, and operational planning.
• Implement and oversee best practices in blasting, mine development, and resource utilization.
• Preparation and management of mining budgets, cost control, and production planning.
• Ensure preparedness and compliance for DGMS and PESO audits etc.
• Responsible for statutory approvals and liasoning with authorities to opt permissions.
• Drilling and Blasting operations to meet limestone production requirements in terms of quality and quantity for plant operations.
• Ensure compliance with DGMS, PESO, and other statutory bodies for mining operations and permissions.
• Monitor and manage Explosive Inventory, AN (Ammonium Nitrate) storage, and magazine compliance as per PESO norms.
• Team building and coordination with other sections for smooth functioning of the department

Desired Candidate Profile:

• Proven experience in highly mechanized open cast mining operations, especially in limestone or similar mineral sectors.
• Strong understanding of statutory compliance, safety regulations applicable to mines and operational best practices.
• Experience in managing teams, coordinating with external authorities, and optimizing mining resources.
• Preparation of mining budgets, cost control initiatives, and production planning.

Strong exposure in strengthening & implementation of the safety practices

Preferred candidate profile

• First Class Mines Managers Certificate (Restricted to Open Cast Mines) issued by DGMS (Directorate General of Mines Safety) – Mandatory
• Experience in Highly opencast mechanized Limestone Mines for more than Eight years.
