Role & responsibilities
- Implement and monitor EHS policies, procedures, SOPs and safety standards across the plant.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, workplace audits and risk assessments.
- Identify hazards and recommend appropriate corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Ensure compliance with applicable Factories Act, Rules, OSH requirements, environmental and other statutory regulations.
- Monitor Permit to Work (PTW) systems, including hot work, work at height, confined space, electrical work and other hazardous activities.
- Conduct Toolbox Talks, safety training, induction programs and awareness sessions for employees, contractors and visitors.
- Monitor contractor safety and ensure compliance with plant EHS requirements.
- Investigate accidents, incidents and near-miss cases and prepare reports with root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Maintain EHS records, registers, inspection reports and statutory documentation.
- Coordinate emergency preparedness activities, including mock drills, fire safety and emergency response.
- Monitor PPE compliance and ensure availability and proper use of required PPE.
- Coordinate with departments for implementation of safety recommendations and closure of audit observations.
- Support ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 implementation, internal audits and external audits.
- Monitor environmental aspects such as waste management, pollution control, hazardous waste and environmental compliance.
- Coordinate with government authorities, safety consultants and statutory agencies whenever required.
- Promote 5S, safety culture and continuous improvement across the plant
Preferred candidate profile
Candidates with hands-on experience in industrial safety, statutory compliance, risk assessment, contractor safety, PTW systems, incident investigation and EHS audits will be preferred. Experience in a ferro alloys, steel or heavy manufacturing plant will be an added advantage.
