Job summary

Athena BharatJobs is seeking a network engineer to install, configure, and maintain enterprise and ISP routers, monitor performance, and troubleshoot routing issues.

The role also covers VLANs, MPLS, QoS, NAT, ACLs, VPNs, IP routing, ITIL-aligned incident and change management, and documentation with on-call support.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, LAN, WAN, DNS, DHCP, NAT, and VPN technologies.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain enterprise and ISP routers.
• Monitor network performance and ensure high availability of routing infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot routing issues related to connectivity, latency, packet loss, and bandwidth utilization.
• Configure and manage routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS.
• Configure and troubleshoot VLANs, VRFs, MPLS, QoS, NAT, ACLs, and VPNs.
• Perform router firmware/IOS upgrades and patch management.
• Handle incidents, service requests, problem management, and change management following ITIL processes.
• Work with ISPs and internal teams to resolve network outages.
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive measures.
• Create and maintain network documentation, diagrams, and SOPs.
• Participate in on-call support and maintenance activities.

Role & responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain enterprise and ISP routers.
• Monitor network performance and ensure high availability of routing infrastructure.

• Configure and manage routing protocols such as:

• OSPF
• EIGRP
• RIP
• Static Routing
• Configure and troubleshoot VLANs, VRFs, MPLS, QoS, NAT, ACLs, and VPNs.
• Perform router firmware/IOS upgrades and patch management.
• Handle incidents, service requests, problem management, and change management following ITIL processes.
• Work with ISPs and internal teams to resolve network outages.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, LAN, WAN, DNS, DHCP, NAT, and VPN technologies.
• Hands-on experience with routing protocols:
• BGP
• OSPF
• EIGRP
• MPLS
• Experience with router configuration and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios, or Zabbix.
• Understanding of QoS, ACLs, and network security best practices.
• Experience with packet analysis tools such as Wireshark.
• Good understanding of ITIL processes.
