Job Description

A Resident - Cardiology provides supervised clinical care to patients with cardiovascular conditions and supports cardiologists in diagnosis, treatment, monitoring, and follow-up. The includes patient assessment, investigations, emergency cardiac care, clinical documentation, and participation in cardiology procedures and rounds under appropriate supervision.

• Assess patients presenting with cardiovascular complaints and document clinical history.
• Perform physical examinations and record relevant clinical findings.
• Monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythm, oxygen saturation, and other parameters.
• Assist cardiologists in evaluating patients with cardiac conditions.
• Order and review relevant investigations under supervision.
• Assist with interpretation of ECGs, cardiac biomarkers, echocardiography, and other investigations as applicable.
• Support the management of conditions such as coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, and hypertension.
• Assist in the assessment and initial management of acute cardiac emergencies.
• Assist with emergency procedures and resuscitation activities as trained.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments under appropriate supervision.
• Monitor patient response to treatment and report deterioration promptly.
• Assist cardiologists during diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures as assigned.
• Prepare patients for cardiac investigations and procedures.
• Participate in ward, ICU, and cardiology unit rounds.
• Coordinate with nursing, laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, and other clinical departments.
• Maintain accurate patient records, progress notes, investigation reports, and treatment documentation.
• Assist with patient admission, transfer, referral, and discharge processes.
• Provide appropriate information and counselling to patients and attendants under senior supervision.
• Participate in clinical case discussions, teaching, audits, and academic activities.
• Follow infection-control, patient-safety, hospital, and professional protocols.
