Job summary

Propella Consulting Group in Mumbai is seeking a Senior Manager to oversee end-to-end customs brokerage operations for imports and exports. You will ensure timely clearance, SLA adherence, regulatory compliance, and strong stakeholder relations to support service delivery.

The ideal candidate has 8-15 years of experience in customs brokerage or logistics, with proven skills in P&L management, team leadership, and trade regulations.

• Strong hands-on expertise in customs clearance, regulatory compliance, tariff classification, valuation, and related trade regulations.
• Candidates should have demonstrated experience in P&L management, team leadership, customer management, and operational performance improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end customs brokerage for imports/exports, ensuring timely clearance and SLA adherence.
• Drive customs compliance across regulations, including classification, valuation, documentation, audits and statutory requirements.
• Own regional customs P&L: revenue, profitability, cost controls, budgeting and forecasting.
• Lead and develop the customs operations team; manage productivity, escalations and service quality.
• Build relationships with customers, customs authorities, forwarders, transporters and internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities / KRA

• Lead end-to-end customs brokerage operations for import and export shipments, ensuring timely clearance, SLA adherence, and operational accuracy.
• Drive customs compliance across applicable regulations, including classification, valuation, documentation, audits, investigations, and statutory requirements.
• Own the regional customs P&L, covering revenue, profitability, cost control, billing, collections, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Lead and develop the customs operations team while managing productivity, performance, customer escalations, and service quality.
• Build strong relationships with customers, customs authorities, freight forwarders, transporters, and internal stakeholders to support service delivery and business growth.

Candidate Profile

• 815 years of experience in customs brokerage, freight forwarding, or logistics operations, with at least 35 years in a managerial capacity.
• Strong hands-on expertise in customs clearance, regulatory compliance, tariff classification, valuation, and related trade regulations; Customs Brokerage F Card is preferred.
• Candidates should have demonstrated experience in P&L management, team leadership, customer management, and operational performance improvement.
• Strong analytical, financial, negotiation, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills, with exposure to customs EDI systems and ERP platforms.
