Job summary

ABB Smart Power zoekt een mechanisch engineer voor de ontwikkeling en technische verbetering van verdeelborden. Je werkt aan 2D/3D CAD-ontwerpen met Catia V5 en Creo, en projecteert in een Agile-omgeving.

De rol omvat leiding nemen in R&D-projecten, testen en validatie, en naleving van normen. De functie is hybride in Hyderabad of Bengaluru met een flexibel werkmodel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor- of Mastergraad in Werktuigbouwkunde of een gerelateerd vakgebied.
• 5–8 jaar ervaring in mechanisch ontwerp.
• Sterke CAD-vaardigheden: Catia V5 en Creo 8.0 (sheet metal).
• Goede mondelinge en schriftelijke Engelse communicatie; MS Office.
• In staat onder druk te werken met eigenaarschap en probleemoplossend handelen.
• Aantoonbare ervaring in leiden van taken binnen cross-functionele teams.

Responsibilities

• Leiden en actief bijdragen aan R&D-projecten op basis van Agile-methodologieën.
• Ontwikkelen en optimaliseren van mechanische ontwerpen (2D/3D) voor Low Voltage Enclosures.
• Deelnemen aan testen en validatie om prestatiespecificaties te waarborgen.
• Zorgen voor naleving van industrienormen en best practices op gebied van veiligheid en efficiëntie.
• Definiëren en valideren van materiaalbehoeften en BOMs voor alle ontwerpen.

Your role and responsibilities:

In this role, you will be responsible for developing new solutions as well as technical improvement of active ones in line with the required product standards and market specifications for electrical distribution board products.

The work model for the role is: #LI-Hybrid

This role is contributing to the Electrification/Smart Power/Breakers & Enclosure in Hyderabad or Bengaluru.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Lead and actively contribute to R&D projects, ensuring alignment with Agile methodologies and project objectives.
• Develop and optimize mechanical designs (2D and 3D) for Low Voltage Enclosures, driving innovation and ensuring compliance with technical specifications.
• Participate in testing and validation processes to ensure that enclosure components meet performance specifications
• Ensure that all designs comply with industry standards and best practices for safety and efficiency.
• Define and validate material requirements, oversee creation of Material Master Data, and ensure accurate Bills of Materials for all product designs.

Qualifications for the role :

• You hold Bachelors or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field with 5-8 years of experience.
• Strong proficiency in 2D/3D CAD design; experience with Catia V5 and Creo 8.0 (including sheet metal package) of at least 2/3 years.
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken. Advanced knowledge of MS Office tools for documentation and reporting.
• Proven ability to work under pressure with adaptability, proactive problem-solving, and a strong sense of ownership for delivering results.
• Demonstrated experience in leading tasks and collaborating effectively within dynamic, cross-functional teams.
