This Position reports to: Chapter Lead
Your role and responsibilities: In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to ABBs success with technology, software, product, and system development. Each day, you will identify and implement innovative solutions to relevant problems. You will also showcase your expertise by providing ideas and by being able to work both independently and as a part of a Research Development (RD) team.
This role is contributing to the Electrification business Smart Power division in Hyderabad, India.
- In this role you will work on business priority projects of defined scope, apply concepts to issues of moderate to high complexity, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning. Perform assigned tasks including definition, approach, analysis, review, and implementation on schedule and within budget.
- Make technical decisions by applications of specialized knowledge/skills, leverage prior work where appropriate, recommend technical approach, required resources, and schedule interfaces with other Engineering Departments, Test Laboratories, Manufacturing, Quality, Sourcing, Research, and Suppliers as required.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to assure requirements are met; build strong relationship, thus helping the project execution in a timely manner.
- Communicate status and problems to project leaders and management.
- Lead documentation of technical design details test results; participate in program reviews and prepare invention disclosures where appropriate.
- Provide guidance and instructions to technicians while carrying out test activities.

Qualifications for the role
- A Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or higher.
- 5 - 8 years of experience in RD of LV Circuit Breakers and Switchgear; Experience in Concept Design, Knowledge on Predictive Analysis, Prototype development and testing of Switchgear etc..
- Preferred exposure on overall Product Development processes, quality, value engineering, costing of Power distribution enclosures, ACB, MCCB, MCB, Contactors, and Switches etc..
- Good awareness of circuit breakers technology, applicable regulatory standards, and test requirements thereof.
- Proficient in CAD Tools like Creo, Pro/ENGINEER; hands-on expertise on Dynamic Mechanism analysis using Creo/ ADAMS; basic awareness / hands-on expertise on simulation tools like ANSYS etc.
- Highly motivated team-player with a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach, and strong communication skills.
